| Hot servo
How hot is too hot? I have a Hitec 7954sh, direct run BEC at 7.4v. Using XR10 wheels with internal weights plus 3 slugs in each. I was running on my buddies pile last night. I felt my servo and seemed really hot. Not blister hot but uncomfortable to leave my finger on it. How hot is too hot? I can do a temp test next time with my nitro gear. Is there a temp thats ok? Would lowering the voltage through the BEC help? I want top performace but also maintain my equipment. This was a particularly technical pile. More turning than my normal trail runs. |

Sounds too hot to me. Are your endpoints set to keep the servo from trying to push past the stop? Do you hear a whining noise from the servo at full lock? Sounds to me like your servo is way overworking & with the BEC & that servo it should have plenty of power not to be over worked unless there is a bind or endpoints need to be adjusted back. I've got my endpoints set. The servo is pretty loud, all the time. I recently installed the Vanquish steering rods. |

Hitecs are not known for being loud, is it new? Have you put a volt meter on the BEC output to confirm 7.4 V? |

I have the same servo and a BEC set to 7.4V for max efficiency of this servo. It gets very warm too so not sure if it is normal or not. I took mine apart and put more servo grease inside to try and make it more water resistant. It is funny how it being in the front of the Wraith and exposed to the most air possible and yet it still gets warm. I jumped on the Hitec servo bandwagon but might jump off if I find a better servo....lol. Sorry I really didn't help. |

The 7954 is not exactly Hitec's best servo...

OK. Just went on an EPIC trail run. I double checked my endpoints. did it on the hood of my buddies truck as opposed to originally on concrete. I have HB Sedonas with Crawler Innovations soft foams. Apparently the resistance of the surface made a huge difference. My endpoints adjusted way back. I kept checking my servo on the trail. Barely got warm. |
