Default Rubbing woes after installing VP knuckles and C's

Hi all, does any body have any ideas what to do about my rubbing issue here? These are the Axial VWS wheels and I'm getting pretty bad rubbing after installing the VP knuckles and C's. Thanks in advance for any help!

The stock whels don't work with VP steering components. You can try sanding the inside of the wheel a bit to get it to clear.

This is true stock axial wheels will not work. You need different rims or trim out the inside of the rim to clear.

Just replacing a hex with another hex of the same width wont solve anything. Those would work great if he wanted to add width. Personally I want to keep it as narrow as possible.

wider wheel hexes. I think it is the traxxas slash hexes that fit and also there are some that rpphobby carries that a vendor on here makes. They need to be 8mm wide instead of the factory 5mm to clear.

I had the same problem with my SCX10 Dingo when I did the VP stage one kit. Traxxas hexes fixed the problem.

Had all the same issues, on mine the +3mm worked (which is the same as a rustler/slash2wd front hex if you want to go that way)
Hopefully you can just see the clearence at that right hand end on the drag link

They'll work on the front but my stock Axial shafts are a whisker too short of thread on the rear, the nyloc nut won't lock on, so I've stayed with the stock hexs on the rear, unless your looking for it you don't notice.
I'm not convinced theres enough thread on the front to run the 5mm but that might depend on what axles you have Axial/VP/etc

Front wheel stub with +3mm hex

rear wheel stub with stock Axial hex

not enough thread left on either of those to go wider hexs

Just a side note....
I've done an XR mod to my SCX10 axles with VP 1.9 wheels...they rubbed so bad they rotated my knuckles and broke my axle housing

Really twisted stuff up...so taking down the inside rings solved the problem....was a bit surprised a 1.9 wheel didn't fit on a wraith chub and knuckle....I've tried other wheels since then, they are close but don't rub....

If you are running stock axles and wheels with no washers (I don't run washers since I think they promote the nut loosening up) you can run +5 in the front and +3 in the rear.

EDIT: That's with universals. I don't have anything but universals here to measure. Maybe someone else with dog bones and a set of calipers can measure them for you.

Do the wraith beadlocks rub on the stage 1 kit or is it the other glue on rim, or both?

Glue on rims rubbed on mine. I picked up some Integy wheels and the inner bead lock ring rubbed pretty bad. Changed to the Traxxas hexes like mentioned above and it cleared my STRC steering setup. I also ran into the wheel nuts not threading on afterwards. Swapped in a set of Axial universals and the outer shaft is longer than the factory dog bones and bolting on the wheel is no problem.

I have the axial trail ready bead locks and they do not rub with the vanquish knuckles and steering links.

to deal with clearance issues with my linkage there on my scx-10 I popped out the metal balls and cut the flanges off some plastic ones and popped them in. my linkage don't go off angles to much and didn't need the full range of movement. has been working pretty good for me.

I routinely sand off all or part of the ball flanges especially on steering linkage to get that extra couple mm of clearance. Just make sure that there is enough angular travel in the ball when you're done. I use a bench top disc sander on low speed and fine grit paper.
