| axial AE-3 vanguard esc brushed set up
Since my AE-2 took some water, I ordered a AE -3 esc from axial. Waterproof and brushed - brushless ready. But how do I connect a brushed motor to it. With the castle link I can set it up for brushed, but don't know which wires to use to connect it. Can't find anything about it. Anyone any idea? thanks!!

Did you ever figure this out. I read that you connect red esc to positive motor lead and black to negative motor lead.

The red wire to the positive terminal on brushed motor The black wire to the negative terminal on brushed motor Wrap up white wire Plug in Castle Link and apply Brushed motor setting. Only install white wire to positive terminal if you're going to be running a high powered motor. Mostly used for racing. |

And i read if you dont have a castle link, you can manually program it like you can the ae2, except the ae3 has more options and less drag brake, only goes to 40%.

All correct info. Be advised, with the construction on the AE-3 ESC, if you run it in brushed mode, you will not see the same power as an AE-2. A brushless ESC in brushed mode uses half the mosfets and those are split between forward and reverse. Ok, I am foggy on the details but I have used this setup and I talked to both Axial and Castle Creations who both confirmed the performance degradation. For the record, the new AE-2 ESC is suppose to be waterproof....look in the LED hole to see if you can see the resin. If so, its waterproof |

I have two of the AE-3 Vanguard ESC's that I run in my Wraith and one of my SCX10's. I am only running a Tekin 35T brushed motor in the SCX10 but both of the AE-3's just have the ABC female connectors on the ESC instead of wires. For the brushed motor, I just run the motor wires to the A and C connections on the ESC and have it set to brushed mode. It still has a huge amount of torque and I can't tell the difference between it and my AE-2 in my other SCX10.
