| Stock axels or vanquish
So after a year of scale crawling/trail running I'm getting close to needing new axles due to wearing through and a stripped screws holding my chubs. Should i go with stock or upgrade to aluminum vanquish axles? My biggest concern is not being able to slide over rocks so easily with the aluminum axles. I figure with the money i save buying stock i could invest in tuff tubes and other upgrades. |

Dlux modded wraith axle housing and beef tubes for the win! then again, if a stock housing lasted you a year, ur doing pretty good! Unless you want bling factor, the money is spent better on other upgrades.. IMO.. Aluminum diff covers will also help the housing last longer in that area.. |

You have a while to go! I finally gave in and switched to an alloy cover. It's definitely taking the hits better, but now I get stuck on it. Never had that problem with the plastic cover. |

You could just get a skid plate amf makes one in aluminum and dmg makes one in steel.

Plastic is cheap and slides a lot better than alloy, get some beef tubes with the money you save, you could probably get a few other upgrades as well I would give the skids a miss as they lessen ground clearance and get caught on things to.

Thanks for the advise. After much thought i ordered stock housings with beef tubes. Them Vanquish housings sure are purdy though. |

i run stock with beef tubes and all the rest is VP and the best addition that i just made were the DMG skid plates and I'm not sure that you lose enough clearance that it matters we are not pros that do it for a living well I'm not and making my stuff last longer is what i want

I got a set of the Vanquish axle housings and after a few runs with them I went back to the stock plastic housing, the VP's are heavy, create a lot more drag, and the sound they make when they hit the rocks makes me cringe.. |

My vote is the DMG skids. Work great, what I lose on clearance it makes up for in taking a beating.

Its worth the read. As soon as my stock plastics go, I'm going to make the switch to VP SkaldidDog's "Buck-Nasty" Wraith |

The closest thing to bombproof you can get in my opinion is the Dlux modded delrin housing with biggin69 beef tubes. Handles any big power needs and can take the abuse, plus it slides on the rocks way better than the Al housings. If you are concerned about wear on the diff cover and bottom of the housing, no doubt a DMG skid plate should be in your future. | |

| Re: Stock axels or vanquish Best I had at the time. Here are a few more of my rig. You can see how thin they are, nice and solid bar on the leading edge, only issue is the button head on the bottom. Adds a small sticking point, but it also acts like a pivot and can reduce drag. I've never had an issue with it. First two pics are the front, third is the rear. |
