| will this gearing setup burn up the motor?
wraith with- weighted wheels rover pink dots 14t/86t gearing holmes 27t torque master zippy 6000 lipo im about to order the gears and motor. right now the car sits with 55t axial motor, 19t/86t. im thinking the faster motor but smaller gearing will give me same speed (not worried at all how fast it is) but more torque ? which is what i want. thoughts? |

sorry 2s. my buddies keep smoking their motors and i think its from their gearing? both have stock spawn wraith and stock scx10 gearing and stock motors. the scx10 got a brand new 35t motor today and after 30 minutes it burned up also. not sure what brand it was. all our batteries are zippy 6000 2s 35c ive had my 55t for like 7 years now and never have had an issue until this week when i built my wraith. it cuts out under a load, but i reprogrammed the throtle curve of the sidewinder 3 back to the stock linear throttle curve and it isnt as bad, but im still going to order the holmes 27t and change the gearing Last edited by youngquist89; 01-15-2015 at 09:13 PM. |

quick question about holmes motor what turn torquemaster should i get? i was thinking 35t originally but then i thought i would go with 27t for a little more rpm to accommodate for the lower gearing. 35 or 27???? with 14t/86t and 2s |

Tell you buddies to check their gear mesh too. It might be too tight. I thought i was doing it right with the paper trick. Turns out I needed to double up my paper and it made a huge difference in motor temps. Paper trick = when setting the mesh put a piece of paper between the gears and move the motor to set the teeth, then tighten the motor to the plate and turn the gears until you paper it fed out of the mesh. There should be a tiny bit of play(maybe 128th of an inch) between the gears when hand turning them forward and backward.
