Default AX10 Deadbolt turned into a Wraith

I picked my AX10 Deadbolt up about a year ago it was my first crawler. It went through a fair amount of changes over that time as I experimented with my new found hobby. I really enjoyed it but as with most things I own I can never just leave well enough alone. Which brings me to The most recent change and why I'm now posting in here. The swap to a Wraith chassis.

Here's a few pics from then to now.

Nice! I did the same thing to my Ridgecrest when I lost interest in it. The Wraith is a much more versatile platform.

Yeah not really a hard swap. I got the chassis on eBay and changed everything over. My only hiccup was thinking the AX10 transmission would work only to find out it wouldnt.

So I bought a Wraith transmission parts tree, the large bearing, hot racing lower one piece steel gear and the Robinson racing mid gear. Also changed over to a 32 pitch setup for the spur and pinion while I had everything apart.

I'm really happy with how it turned out.

Nice. I have ax10 and scx10. Tempted to buy the Wraith, but maybe I should convert the ax10. How difficult is the conversion? How much does it cost, vs buying a used Wraith?
Lovely Truck u have there!
Thanks

It wasn't difficult at all just swap everything over to the Wraith chassis. The Wraith chassis was $80 and transmission $40. That was all I changed. I don't think you can find a used Wraith that cheap.

Look on ebay or rcrecycler for wraith part outs. Changing over your ax10 to a wraith is easy.

I luckily found a wraith cage with panels from a buddy building up a tuber.

This is my list when I did the conversion:
skid
trans case (Use your ax10 internals)
robinson racing solid one piece trans gear (only if your not using the dig)
the grub screws to hold the lower links to the skid
longer wires for the motor

That's pretty much what I did, bought the wraith trans parts tree for $8. I got the Hot Racing one piece lower gear. You'll need the large bearing for the lower gear as well.

AXA1243 Axial bearing 15x24x4mm
AX80051 Axial dig transmission case
WRA38X Hot Racing Steel Diff Locker Gear

RPP Hobby parts out brand new RTR as well and you could pick up the Wraith Spawn trans that has the new dual slipper and 32 pitch gears for about $45. Use the "email me when available" option to know as soon as they have one. http://www.rpphobby.com/product_p/syws6.htm
