| New Wraith build with a few questions.
Hey guys I am coming from the linked TF2 and decided I wanted a more capable rock crawler. I liked the somewhat scale looks so I went with the Wraith. All I will be doing is crawling and trailing. So here is my build so far. Wraith kit RC4WD AX2 trans Gear Head 2.2 BRT wheels 5.5" Pitbull rock beast tires Gmade piggyback shocks 103mm Here is where I think I messed up Steering servo 7954SH Tekin FXR with 45t motor I am running the CC BEC so the servo gets 7.4 volts but is that a big enough servo? Also is this thing going to be under powered with the tekin 45t motor? I only run 2s lipos and want to keep it that way. |

the servo should be fine, i run one on a wraith, the 45t on 2s is going to be painfully slow....if you insist on staying 2s then go to a 27t Holmes Hobbies torquemaster sport motor, only 35 bucks...I am not sure how fast the 45t will be with a 2 speed trans...if you try it, watch your motor and esc temps when you start out..

I really don't want to go brushless but is that a better option for a 2s setup with a 2 speed?

everything he said. I used a 35t in a scx10 with 2 speed it worked well had to drop to 10t pinion with 56 spur to keep temps down 45 maybe slow in wraith but if your crawling it maybe fine too only you can say |

Your servo is fine, I'm running less torque without a problem. With a 2-speed you should get the speed you want on 2S and 45t motor, but watch the motor and ESC temps. That transmission is very low/slow in 1st and a little too high/fast in 2nd, so you may have to experiment a little with your spur/pinion ratio.

I run that servo on the same tires which are closer to 5.75 and have also ran it with weighted 5.8 tall super swampers and it does great. Only complaint is it is a bit noisy but I stopped noticing after the second or third time out. Everybody else reminds me though. |

Any servo above 400 oz/in of torque will do well in a Wraith so long as you don't abuse it too much. That one should last awhile. All depends on how you treat it tho.. For the AX2 I reccomend a brushless motor. The low gear will be great for crawling and won't cog it if it's sensored, and the high gear would be great for trailing / hill climbs. Upgrade the output shaft on the AX2 to the Heavy Duty Output shaft. The stock shaft has a design flaw that will allow the front output to sheer off in a crash / jam situation. I run a Pro4 3300KV in my crawler with the AX2. Motor / trans wise it'll do everything I ask of it. |
