Default servo question

I'm setting up my wraith for u4 racing and want to upgrade my servo. Keeping an eye on expenses as well. Any suggestions on a good reliable servo for u4?

Solar Servo D772 High Voltage 0.17sec@7.4v 64g Digital Metal Gear

it runs acceptably at 6v
low cost.. decent life use for a throw away

The D772 runs at it's full potential when fed 7.4v

Sooo

either use a external bec set @ 7.4v
or use a decent esc that offers an internal bec at no less then 6v

My HH BR/XL's internal 6v bec seems to be enough.
tho' that will be circumvented in favor of using an external CCbec set at 7.4v

6v turns my 1/6 scale Wraith build acceptably

Thanks for the info. I think I need something a little more than throw away. I need something that can withstand u4 racing. I don't know if you would use the same servo that you would for a crawler.

I like the Hitec 7954sh. It's 403oz/in at 7.4 volts for around $80 shipped on eBay. It has a really quick transit time also. .12 I believe.

I had bad luck with all kinds of plastic cased servos. Never stripped gears, I was splitting the front cases and breaking mounting ears off.

Switched to a savox 1283 with a full metal case and haven't had an issue since.

Had the Holmes servo been out when I was in the market I would have gone that route. Protek 170t is also well respected, although closer to $200.

I use the 7990th and its held up pretty good. I've landed on the front hard enough to bresk an aluminum servo are and didn't mess up the servo.

I did the 1283. I cracked 5 cases and had 3 gear sets fail in every other nice servo I tried. Goggle the 1283 and look at the gear setup. It's big compared. I even had a guy that "hates with a passion savox" now running the 1283 in his fast rigs bc of the strength.

+1 on the Savox 1283SG. Graduated from the 1256TG in my 1/8 stuff to the 1283SG and never looked back. So naturally I put one in my Wraith as well
