Default First post need help with my wraith

I have a rtr wraith all stock I'm using hxt battery connectors (upgrading to deans or traxxas soon) but I was running it around in the snow today and then a wire came out of the connector took it home put the wire back in pluged in a battery then the battery got really hot and started to smoke so I rechecked my wires and tried another battery along with another connector same issue is the problem my esc or within the connectors somewhere really has me confused thanks in advance for all input

Hello Emaxx. I'd be suspecting the ESC by the sounds of it. If new you should be covered under warranty.

That's what I was thinking was wrong but just wanted to get some opinions and I've had the wraith for a lil while now so no more warranty I like the stock esc because of the drag brake was looking at the axial ae-5 is this pretty close to stock thanks

I would agree. Sounds like a short in the ESC that cause the wire to come loose in the first place.

I have the ae-5 in my SCX10 Power Wagon, and an ae-2 in my Wraith, both are brushed. I like the ae-2 better because there is more program ability with the Castle Link, but it's not waterproof like the ae-5. The ae-5 just has 2 jumpers, one for LIPO or NiCad/NiMH, and the other for 100% or 50% drag brake.

EDIT:
Side note, the ae-2 requires the Castle BEC to run 3s to keep the voltage down.

Thanks for some info CraigH I ended up ordering the ae-5 I've never really messed with any of the tuning but I figured I would try the ae-5 out

Ok so I got the ae-5 I did the battery forward mod so my esc is in the back and the cord to the receiver is to short is there some kind of extension I can get or do you cut and splice it to make it longer

Any of your LHS will have multiple length extensions to fit what you need.

OR

Let me google that for you
