Thumbs up Re: axle housings

I'm very happy with the Vanquish V2 wraith axle housings. They don't get hung up anymore than the stock plastic housings IMO. But I would highly suggest the DMG skid plates as well!!

Yes. It's a long horizontal bolt next that goes through the housing and the small screw on the bottom. I've seen guys use a bevel drill bit and enlarge hole on the bottom, then use a bevel screw so it's flush against the skid

Wraith/RidgeCrest axle skids
is an example of what it looks like.

i run the ssd diamond housing, Love how it looks, I think it hangs up a little more since its not hard plastic, but I have not had any issues with it. That skid will make you hang up more than an aluminum axle housing, it will just keep em pretty. However the advantage to running an aluminum housing is mainly for higher speed brush-less systems and scale appeal. I have a rig also on plastic housing, love it, works great after a year, to upgrade it, i will run a Dlux modified housing when the stock one dies.

im running beef tubes at the moment but considering the vanquish housings v2 (not the curries) due to there round edges just like a stock plastic housing maybe those will be less of a hang up.

actually i just added all the stuff up for the v2 axle housing and it came out to be $150! thats for the housing, truss and a diff cover. might as well get a currie f9 for the same price. idk haha choices choices

Dlux big bearing housing with steel beef tubes is less than half the cost of an aluminum housing. The housing is plastic so it slides over obstacles nicely and the steel beef tubes add some weight and are far less likely to strip the threads than an aluminum housing.

I smooth my housings bottom half so they are much less likely to hang up. Cheap and effective are the names of my game.

Or you can just let the rocks round them off for you

This one is getting a hole so it's about time to flip it and put it on the back, another bonus of running the plastic housings.

I only smooth the edges around the grub screw in the tube and the sides of the housing next to the diff cover. I don't take any meat away from the wear areas, that is for the rocks to do. My crawler has 2 month old housings in it now that are almost due for replacement. Time for 7" tires I guess.

Or just the stock plastic housing with the Beef Tubes is plenty good unless you run big power, then step it up to the modded Dlux big bearing plastic housing.

I have a vp aluminum housing in the front of my sporty, it's going in the parts pile for a plastic big bearing Dlux housing...
