| Steering servo upgrade
Well, I swapped my tires to some pit bull rock beasts and my stock tactic servo is struggling pretty bad. My local guy at the hobby shop recommended a Savox savsc1251mg as an upgrade. Anyone used this servo before? I'd love to get some opinions.

Fairly weak servo (torque) for a crawler. What's you budget for a replacement ? |

Well I paid $62 for this one...I wouldn't want to spend too much more than that. But obviously as little as I can while still getting a decent servo. Don't want to buy junk.

A few dollars more would get you a savox 1230sg with plenty of torque. This is an expensive area on your truck. Not spending the coin now, unfortunately will cost you later. There are other good options at around 80$. And yes I understand that's alot. Trust me, I really want a savox 2290 150$ So you know the 1230sg is 440oz of torque. A 1251mg says 125oz tq on savox website. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk Last edited by Correll; 02-04-2017 at 05:27 PM. |

which Pitbull Rock beasts ? 1.9, 2.2... XLs ? I use the Savox SA 1230 SG to push 4.60" tires on my SCX-10 and it been great. http://www.savoxusa.com/Savox_SA1230...avsa1230sg.htm The Savox SA 1230 SG offers 500 oz in of torque requiring only 6v to net that. But tires that are taller then 4.80" (ish) may fair better with even more torque. ALIMO But others might disagree. I run some 2.2 PL TSL XLs measuring 5.80" tall on my Wraith converted to 1:6 scale (12 lbs or so) and the Savox SA 1230 SG ran too hot when running those. Obviously the added weight plays a role. But on my SCX-10 sporting 4.60" 1.9 tires... no problem. Probably be fine with a 4.80" (ish) tire as well. Last edited by TacoCrawler; 02-04-2017 at 05:33 PM. |

as long as it's nearer to the stock Wraith weight. But a heavier chassis Wraith with near 6" tires... might be a different story. That's why I pony'd up for the Savox SB 2290 SG 'cuz my Wraith weighs in at around 10 - 12lbs. and sports 2.2 TSL XLs. The 1230 wasn't cutting it and ran way too hot in my rig. pricey... but near 700 oz in = monster servo torque and turns 6" tires all day long, becoming just warm to the touch But the 2290 would be nearly 3Xs yer budget | |

| Re: Steering servo upgrade You should notice a distinct improvement with an BEC, regardless of which brand of servo you choose, but in particular Savox servos are notoriously amp hungry & its likely you'll have esc brown out issues without the BEC. If possible grab the HH rx bypass for almost plug n play ease. If nothing else it frees up a port on your rx if you'vr got lights etc running off it. |

As above you definitely need a BEC. Without it your servo will not be running to its full potential. I personally always buy the Castle BEC as I have various ESCs to. So with the Castle Link I can program the lot.
