Default Resurrection of a Wraith

This left off, here first build thread, FPV - RCCrawler
about 4 years ago.

A shift in interests, got me out of the rc hobby for awhile, but talking with a buddy, and raising a family brought me back around. As a cheaper alternative, and something that I can share with a 9, 6, and 4 year old. So I pulled all my rc stuff out of the attic. I've pieced together a couple crawlers for the kids, and this project has taken another direction. Away from FPV and geared towards casual trail runs, and G6 style events.

No drastic changes yet. Just electronics, and some driveline upgrades.

Hobbywing 1080 crawler esc
Traxxas 550 21T
RC4WD Warn 9.5 winch
HeyOk winch controller
Hot Racing spool, and Axial overdrive gears in front
No name CVD's in front

32p spur and pinions on the way

Making suspension links as needed

It's not going to be anything amazing. Nothing real high performance. Just an average Joe trail cruiser

I have been debating on FPV for mine. I use FPV for Acro flying but not for Crawling. I have an entire system that I can construct from broken parts to make on. I'm curious on your thoughts before I go through with spending time on it.

I didn't do any technical crawling. You would have to have a pretty good pan/tilt setup to see well enough. It was fun to go out around my property, Chase chickens, and some mild crawling and trail running . It was also fun to send out at night with the ability to control the lights remotely, and mess with passing cars.... lol I live on a county road. You would see brake lights and just know the driver was having a WTF reaction.

If I venture into FPV again I'm going to go for more range. And I will get a bigger vehicle. I'm thinking the Yeti XL. or maybe a summit. There again, it won't be a real crawler, just somethin to see the area from a different perspective.

HA! That does sound like fun. I have been toying with the idea of a Yeti XL with a 600MW VTX and a Runcam Swift 2 for audio and using that for a long range "baja" setup...which sounds amazing until it's upside down 1/2 mile away
