very sweet set up. fpv is awesome brings a hole new world to rc. im looking at the cheap fpv setup for around 150 and am looking to stream footage with my gopro im curious of your fpv gear and mostly about your display or do you use goggles? im looking at this system, may end up getting a cheap camera to fit inside the wraith later on. for now ill be building a fpv plane platform http://www.bevrc.com/bev-58g-200mw-p...r-fpv_p18.html Last edited by evan03; 02-02-2013 at 10:29 AM. |

i use the tv in the living room lol. made extensin cables so i can put the video receiver up on the gutter of the house out the back door. to damn cold to be sitting outside this time of year. my gear is a "plug and play" system from hobby wireless. the tx/rx combo was the cheapest they had. camera not included, and i got the cheapes recommended camera they listed which was a hundred bucks. then 3s batts to power it. but since your already running 3s on your rig that shouldnt be necessary. i only had to make a couple solder connections to connect the camera to the vid transmitter. the receiver came ready to be powered off of 3s also. but i had an ac adapter for a battery charger that put out 12v. and i was able to use the end of the camera lead that had to be removed, and a jst plug to make an adapter, to power it from AC current. was just kind of luck i had that stuff laying around. i dont know much about adapting the gopro to stream your vid. im pretty sure the cableing in available, but general consesus seems to be use a dedicated FPV camera, and take the gopro along for the ride to record the trip. my vid receiver has a second output that can go to a video recorder if i decide to go that route, although the vid quality of the gopro would be considerable better.

gopro would stream fpv in vga just like the normal fpv cameras but also record at its high resolution. only reason i want to use it is because i have it. even though stream quality is the same as the fpv cams. readymade rc makes this stuff almmost easy. gopro cable to traqnsmitter. i will say i learned the hard way 5.8 is better suited to air, and lower frequencys like 900 MHZ or 1.2 Ghz are better suited to ground based. ive read lots of lengthy discussions on FPVlab.com as to why but in a nutshell 5.8 has a tighter wavelength, it can get through tighter air gaps and travel farther, but doesnt go through dense objects, trees, buildings and landscapes. so you need to keep a more direct line of sight for good signal. whereas the lower frequencies tend to bend and flex around objects and follow contours of the terrain. so even though you may lose some overall range it will be a clearer vid transmission in cluttered areas.

yeah 5.8 seems to be the standerd for the air. so ill go with it. what kinda range are you getting from your living room. that would be pretty sweet to sit on the couch and go bash through the neigborhood. |

well i live out in the country, have 6 acres with some woods. with the vid rx outside and about 12 feet up my vid range was farther than the axial tx/rx. and pretty clear strait out across the field. probably 100 yards or so, if i went behind the barns or into the woods it hindered vid reception considerably but not to the point of not being driveable. just got the Flysky stuff wired up and mixed the other day so havnt range tested it. and cant find any difinitive ranges for them online, youtube vids show vehicles getting out farther than you can see to accurately drive though....
