| OPIE wants a winch
And OPIE gets what I want. So RPP is sending a HeyOk servo winch, with a few goodies. OPIE has a WERTY made front battery tray, I just need to open the mount up. Anyone mount one up? Im running a futaba 4PLS any set up hints? https://www.rpphobby.com/ProductDeta...tCode=HEYSVWN3 |

Program it to one of the thumb switches under the steering wheel. Don't use the slider switch on the back of the Tx. That's my only advice. You've been around long enough...

The dt buttons are all only momentary switches, winch will only run as long as you hold it, which you can do 1 handed. The slider behind a 3 pos switch you have to actively find the center off pos, & is harder to reach & do if your other hand is occupied hooking or unhooking. Also if bumped winch keeps trying to run. |

I read that hack, wasn't sure if the 3position was the correct winch. Al also sells a 2position winch. I'm used to those switches action on my MOA, dig setup. When my pls is out of warranty, I will jumper them Hang up and Drive |

Apologies for incorrect info, didn't have the unit in front of me & was winging it. Knew DT1 & s were momentary, it's where I have my dig & proportion on moa & winch on Wraith. Could have sworn 3 & 4 were momentary also but hardly use them so accept I'm wrong there |

Why did you go with the servo winch instead of say the warn one from RC4WD? I know after you buy the winch and controller it's more expensive especially if you go with the wireless one but is the servo stronger? I've been thinking of getting one for the SCX10 but I can't seem to pull the trigger for the $100+ it's going to cost. I know I have a servo somewhere that I can probably mod to make it work. I've been playing with RCs since the late 80's and just found a box with all sorts of stuff I forgot I had. I've been staring at that lighbar at the LHS but it's pretty pricey. I bought 16 ft. of waterproof LED strip lights and it took about a year to get around to making something. I ended up using some aluminum angle and some carbon fiber strips I had. I used servo tape to mount it to the angle and it works but I'm not 100% happy with it. I used a XH extension I had lying around and plug it into the balance tap but a switch and powering it off the receiver seems much cleaner. |

I just made a servo winch for about $30 using a mini brushed esc. Pull the pot out and then solder the esc motor leads to the motor in the servo.

Controller inside, by al @ HeyOK I can move it to a stronger servo later. I also like the hidden look, and had the space empty This one has 180oz torque Hang up and Drive Last edited by mikemcE; 08-02-2017 at 07:37 PM. |
