Default Spawn gearing help.

I'm in this totally alone, and am starting to get deeper than planned. So I've a spawn. Aluminum panels, alum steering links, alum shocks, battery in front. For slow trailing, creeks, forest etc I bought xl tsl supers swampers on rocksters with 6 oz in front wrap, 4 oz in rear. And a 55t motor, not installed. Still stock. I also bought mudslingers on rocksters no weight and a 27 t motor for mud, gravel, snow. So I see now gears are an issue. With my current set up what gears would be good for each, or could I possibly score a set that could satisfy both motors somewhat until I learn all this. Should be snowing soon so I'll use up the 20t. I read the spawn is different than the wraith and I can't seem to find any newer posts on the spawn. Thanks for any help you can offer. I don't yet understand the gearing on these. I'd like to just get these two ideas in motion and then fine tune it in. Having telescopes I understand one truck won't do it all. Thanks!!!

Are you asking about the Axle gearing? Or the pinion/spur?

If your asking about pinion/spur, pinions are cheap buy 6 or so and have fun. If its the axle gears the stock ratio should be fine.

Stock gearing should be just about fine with the motors you got for the purposes you mentioned on 3s. For 2s you may wanna gear up a bit for speed but that 27T could get hot...

If you want any motor to last I would advise dropping to at least a 11tooth pinion, 10 tooth would be better. You will lose a little speed over stock, but the taller tires will gain some back

Pinion and spur. Maybe axle next i guess. Oh goodness deeper and deeper.. And I bought 2s 25 venom 5000. What do you mean when you say buy 6 and have fun? With the axial motors so cheap I'm not afraid to try stock. But I have seen few trucks with the pinion dropped to 10 or 11 tooth to save motors.Just looking for good start point. Thanks, T.

I meant 6 pinions cause they are 4-6$ a piece on Amazon. Just get a selection for your parts bag. And experiment to see what you like. Or for tire/motor changes.

Keep your gear ratio between 5:1 and 6:1 with a 27t or 35t on 3s and you will be fine...

Awesome! So say 10 through 16 seems to be the range on good pinion but that enough? what on spur? Can I leave it stock? Not sure what that really is even on a 2017 spawn. I was under initial impression it was same as wraith but not so sure now. Just trying to avoid any gear breaking or overheating. Ima start stock see if it works for me. Im not a cazy driver. Slow actially. It's 30 degrees out now I can prob get by with a lot. Ganna be fun experimenting. My trucks new been outside once for test drive after all the add ons. I also just installed an hd 25 servo waterproof and roof rack with led. I so can't wait.
Will post a pic when I get a chance to learn the process. Forums should offer little space anyways.

Most likely the waith is a 48 pitch spur gear and the spawn is a 32 pitch spur gear..48 and 32 are not interchangable.. The spawn i think is a 56t 32p spur gear... 10t to 12t is the sweet spot on 3s. 16 on a 32p will burn up a brushed motor fairly quickly. The 13t to 16t would be for 48p spur gears and would be good on 3s
