Default XR axle shaft questions

I would like to know what the differance is between the front axle shaft length (equal length) versus the rear shafts (unequal length).
The housings seem to be the same width end to end.
For example, if you used the front axle housing
with rear lockouts would this take equal length shafts?
TIA.

Default Re: XR axle shaft questions

Rear housing off centers the spool gear (probably for the "cutting brake mechanism".

Using a front housing with lockout require equal length axle shafts using a front housing with Araith lockouts (and longer equal length shafts) will give an even track weigh with the front axle.

Additionally, use of a from axle housing with lockouts allow the use of an additional bearing (end of housing axle tube) so with custom shafts you could run extra bearing support
