for sure Mitchell...for sure....:)

I may just sneek the paypal account and live with the grief from my CFO....she runs around with a hatchet when I spend money on this hobby. But she'll go out and buy me a $100 shirt...no problem...gotta love her though...she puts up with me

calikingcrawler 08-19-2011 06:07 PM

HAHA my wife is that same way. But I recently figured something out. ( and was able to order my Mantis )

I buy my daughter ( wife will buy her anything! ) a MRC and now let the money flow.

I order what the daughter need and throw in some parts for me.

A win win. Buy the parts. Say ur building her a truck so you 2 can enjoy something together. Either she will get into it and allow orders or she won't want it and it is yours.

You should! I can say that after having it for only a week, it's definitely worth every penny at twice the amount!

hope you're right Mitchell....I pulled the trigger today, along with some VP weights and the slug retainer rings from Sven...."thumbsup"

I'm going to do a build when I get the stuff

the hatchet woman is loose again...:)

Okay, trying to match up to your weight distribution still using stock XR wheels.

Your tuning hints said VP knuckle weights plus two discs up front. That's 4.74 oz according to VP website. So I could use four 1-0z weights and two CI 1/3 oz aluminum weights from CI.

On the back you use two 1-oz weights, so I could put two weights in the wheel or all six aluminum weights. (Or I think I could do it your way still using stock wheels)

I know there's still the argument as to whether weight belongs on the axle or in the wheels, but ignoring that do I have it right? What would throw me off is if you're running a bare wheel that weighs a lot different than the stock wheel bare.

Thanks Mitchell...I'm fully stoked now...even thinking up some wild ass body panels. "thumbsup" have you tried any other bent links in the front at all...I know Norcal was having some issues but he didn't elaborate much....didn't know you were having the same issues. I have a machinist friend that could fab some links pretty easy if I knew what length and bend it took to fix it. Also still wondering what that rear wheel weighs....I know WAM was doing a bunch of math...but I couldn't follow much of it or where he got it....

I'm not having very bad issues with the links, but the left one does rub on the motor mount and that inhibits the articulation of it, so that's why I got the custom links. I put some spacers in to hold the links out farther (see pics in my thread) and that helped some but not enough.

As for weights, I would put 3oz at least in the rear. I'm running 4oz and I'm liking it. Did you get the 3 or 4 slug holders?

Three hole....dang....have to fudge some more maybe....he already shipped it....Sven was quick...

That's 4oz per wheel ? Each slug is what 18 grams...that a hair over 2 Oz

Going to have to check your pics closer now....and those slug weights

4oz total in the rear, 2oz in each wheel. The 3 hole should be ok. You can squeeze at least 3oz in the rear with that cant you?

From VP's site, each slug weighs 15.75g = .55 oz.
x 3 = 1.67 oz.
