Get this thing on the rocks I would like to see your findings on how well it works. The no skid idea seems cool but not sure how it will effect the truck while on course.

I think the new side panels will make it look better.

I put it on my small pile of rock after work tonight before I mocked up the new rear lowers, and it worked realy well.................. In fact, I'm positive I'm not going back to a skid. When I told EGRESSor about what I was doing, he simply said, "You will like it" and, I do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I plan on taking the weight off the wheels and getting it on the ends of the axles below center, this thing should be crazy good then.

There sure is heaps of rock. I live in Bronte (two beaches south on Bondi, only about 2km) and there is heaps of rock. Along the entire east coast of Australia there are either stretches of sand or rocky headlands and cliffs, so there are PLENTY of places to crawl. I don't do much crawling around Bondi beach because of the number of people though. Yes, the hotel is still there (I think) but i'm not sure. You never ask people who live in a city about the local hotels!

Anyways back on track- the crawler looks good. Would definitely help breakover!

Why not? You make it sound like a taboo thing to do.

Evidently, what happens in hotels, stays in hotels

Haha, no because I don't know much about them- I have a home to go to in that city so why stay in a hotel?

OK! Thanks to Erik DLux I got mt titanium links and link sliders today, and bent them up tonight. Been working on this thing the last 2 days hot and heavy for a comp tomorrow in Indianapolis. Made some new skins too so I thought I'd post some pics before I scratch it all up

I took it out in the yard and ran it over the rock pile before it got dark. I am happy as hell with the way it works. Other than getting the weights off the wheels and on the knuckles there's not much room for improvement. Unless I start tinkering again.................................
Weight with battery RTR 5.88 lbs.

Well, it performed pretty well, but I had some hanging up on what is left of a skid. So............I'm re-doing the chassis. I really want more clearance at the skid.
The skid clearance was 3 1/4" and the high part of the rear links were 4". I'm gonna tweak the bends on the rear lowers, and maybe go with a super short skid that is just long enough to hook the links on. What ever I do, I'll have to make the frame taller to get the topper a little higher to keep it legal. I'll have all day tomorrow to think about it at work, so it's hard telling what direction this thing will take tomorrow night. I forgot to mention that I need to learn how to drive. It was a really cool place to crawl. Was outside between 4 Wheel Parts store and an old Jiffy Lube, on a strip of rock for guys to test out their 1.1 Rigs. Some massive rock but a good mix, and some holes to get swallowed up in. I had a great ride down to Indy with Handicrawler. He had a little trouble with his Losi toward the end of the comp, so we shared my rig and he showed me how good it would handle with a good driver behind the radio!!!!!

This is more how I want my lower links setting, with a super short skid plate. Marc has it right!

Christian fixed the rear upper links on his tuber like the red line in the picture. The wider fixing point gives more stability for the rear. I also use this concept for my bodyless Tracer.
Awesome chassis - steve

Thanks Toy Master, but that frame is history now. I decided to go with a super short skid for a little more lower frame support, and to get the front and rear lower link ends more even. It's working much better for me.

You will gain alot of stability if you out board the uppers !! also the rear lower work much better on the inside of the fronts if you want it skidless works awsome on the breakovers also helps to have the uppers mounted verticaly above the lowers with the rear 1 hole higher than the front to drive the front down on climbing
