before u put it together check out the xr10 tips & tricks page, i just built my 1st xr10 3 weeks ago and busted the gears in the rear on the first pack, after researching i found it due to improper gear mesh, there are several ways to go about it i cut 2 strips of the thin double sided tape that's included in the kit and placed the in the lower axle housing where the bearing seats, another thing i did was used the Traxxas 3775 Oilite Bushings, 5x8x2.5mm in place of the bearings and used lithium grease, the small bearings don't last very long and will take your gears out with them when they go out, also i found that the plastic covers that go over the links hang up a little due to it no being a smooth surface so i made my own links using 5/16" delrin rod & m4x20 grub screws you can use the xr10 rod ends just drill them out with a 1/8" drill bit, there are a bunch of other tips on the page theses are just some that i have done, and yeah you can buy links & big bearing kits but whats the fun in that when you can save a little money building something from scratch

for gears go with rc4wd xr10 gears if you find them in stock. for bearings go with avid, they are good quality at a low price. you are getting 2 holmes torquemaster pros right?

you can either buy avid bearings or traxxas bushings both are pretty cheap. rc4wd are the gears to buy.

also stoled this from another thread but you can use 11/16" shaft collar for weight in the rear on each side on the axle fit real snug and has a set screw to stay in place, heres a link 11/16" Single Split Shaft Collar-1SC-068, One Piece Clamp Collar | eBay Last edited by srt6; 01-23-2012 at 07:25 PM. |

Well I'm gonna rid the stock gears till they go out. My Axial aluminum chubs an knuckles will be here tomorrow. I want to run all the Axial stuff I can, I'm just kinda that way. I wanted to put it together encore I got all the VP stuff just so I'd be familiar. I would like it to look as stock as possible if possible. It's all together as of now. Like the stock wheels but don't want to use wheel weights cuz they eat all your hp. Gonna get the VP knuckle weights. Can u use a ial knuckles with them. Gettin closer

I'm running pretty much all Axial stuff also.VP knuckle weights won't work with Axial parts but i think D-Lux makes knuckle weights to fit. Gonna be a nice build. Check out my build (My Axial/VP10)
