| IK632's XR - a reformed monster truck guy
So, I used to be a monster truck guy. Had several Stampede 2x4's and Stampede 4x4's and even raced RC10 buggies and RC10ST's back in the day. I picked up my son an AX10 for Christmas and he loves the thing. I had even more fun driving it than my Stampede 4x4 I was running at the time. So, I stripped the Stampede down and sold most of it to buy an XR10. Right now I'm at the following: XR10 Proline Chisels Sidewinder SCT ESC x2 FS-GT3B (hacked) Axial 27t stock motors (still trying to find the 35t's of my dreams) 2s LiPo packs (until I get the 35t's and I'll go 3S) Hitec 7954sh Traxxas bronze bushings RC4WD transmission case upgrade and motor plate I don't know if I'll compete seriously but once I start driving the thing and get the hang of it I may change my mind. |

Sounds cool man glad to hear you like crawling. You will want to fin d out a better solution for the steering because it is horrible. Other than that have fun!

Are you guys talking about the mod where people flip the servo so the arm is closer to the wheel and then get a different arm for the steering knuckle? Edit: looks like you guys are talking about the steering link behind the axle. I was wondering what was up with the design that they put in there. It's fancy engineering work, but really not best practice. Last edited by ik632; 02-02-2012 at 06:29 AM. |

Just ordered my Br00d motors. Two 35t Chaos Type R's are on their way. Great service from those guys. Can't wait to run them!

Got my front axle put together today. The RC4WD cover and motor plate are very nice. I still had to notch the bottom for the axle (for removal). I also installed a bushing in the final output shaft location per everyone's recommendation. One question for everyone, when I put my front axle together the bearings for the spool fit very tight and nice without slop. Should I have shimmed the bottom case to push those bearings up higher or is it only a rear axle thing? |

Axles and chassis all put together in stock form. I even put the stock electronics tray in. I did have a problem with filling the shocks. At first I had them over filled so drained a little but as soon as the cap is covered in shock oil they slip inside the shock when I screwed the cap on. I ended up having to clean the caps and set them on with the correct amount of oil. Based on the fact I plan to use dual Sidewinder SCT ESCs I think the stock battery tray and electronics tray need to come out in favor of one of the bow-tie shaped ones that everyone makes. |

Here it is painted: HPI Jeep Wrangler body. I'll use this one for playing with my son and the stock XR body for when I go to competition. Thanks to Brood for the motors. |

I'm not going to dare show the wiring. I'm not proud of it at all. Need to come up with a better way to wire up those sidewinders.
