| My first moa (sylvain's dahu xr10)
I have lots of fun with scale but I wanted to try a moa for some time. I got a used dahu frame locally couple weeks ago and got a used xr10 last week. I tried the xr10 frame couples of days to get used to it and started the organ transfer to the dahu frame. Running both is completely different and even if the xr10 had some nice mods to it I'm more a torsion frame guy I guess. Today was rainy so started to make some body panels to it using a 2$ plastic binder to cut the parts. Running a big ktm twins I was aiming to the orange and black ktm look. I should get my orange and black wheels soon and will need some sticker (probably ktm ones) if I can find what I want. Mechanic and electronics are xr10 axels, vp motorplate and other goodies, novak m2 with cheap claws motor, a castle bec and a savox 1256, all controlled by a modded traxxas tqi. I know I still have parts to upgrade but so far it works very well. Next thing I need is better motors and will order from holmes soon. It sit at 4.47 pounds ready to run for now, the wheels are quite heavy so I hope to get closer to 4 pounds soon. |

Nice chassis! They selling them anywher? Or you got it used? Good looking rig tho, nice build. As far as wheels, you can slim the stock wheels down to 1".. there is a thread on it, I think.. pull the wheels apart, cut both sides, that slide an touch each other, slide them back together.. modded stock wheels..

Dahu seems to be hand made in France. The previous owner of the frame got it from a French crawler forum. It was around 130 euro + shipping or something around that. If you want one I can check if the maker speak English. I should be able to shoot some video when weather get nicer here. |

Here are some updates. I went back to the xr10 wheels and used some HR spacers to get a proper width. I know it's not ideal but I like the look of it and it works much better than the ax10 wheels using stick weight inside the wheels. I don't know the legal width for a comp crawler but I crawl for fun and I gained stability that way. I'm back to 4.5 pounds rtc I will have to open the rear axle soon, there is a shimming problem or something because there a movement left to right of both wheels. I'm about to order my new motors and will do that in the same "operation". |
