Default My XR evolution

So let me start off with saying i love the XR platform. I ran it stock for maybe 2-3 months and it was great for bashing around with my buddys, but then i started watchin the comp videos and got hooked!

I went to the season opener at Rim Rock and all i had done was made up some late night fabed rear lower links to see if the would help out. After the comp i had a good idea of What i wanted to start changing. So got two packs of revos and got started

The before

The after

Next was a knuckle flip in the first pic you can see were i redriled for the correct throw on the servo

in this pic you can see the clearinsing of the on steering chanel.

The new radius

Then i had to do alot!!! of body triming and chassie tweaking!

The before
[IM
The after

I still got alot of cleanup on the links to try and smooth them out some but for the most part its ready for some testing

Ow any feed back (possitive or negative) is really appreciated

Ok so time for a up date on the XR. Ive been workin as much OT as i can to pay for as this stuff as i can. So heres a list of updated parts.

* Carbon fiber progess chassis (Thanks for the killer deal chris!)

* Rowdy racing motor mount battery tray ( thanks Knoja for the hook up)

* Chaotic crawler TI links and steering

* Dlux delrin sliders

* 4 inch big bores with Dlux mounting eyes. (front has firm pistons 30wt and silver mini t's, rear has soft piston with 30wt green mini t's and rcp internals.

* VP lock outs

* VP chubs and knuckles

* VP SLWV5 .7 with custom cut crawler inovation foams

* Brood Chaos type R 35T (what eddie recomended i get)

* Brand new 7950

* Duel FXR's (so worth the money!)

* Dlux knuckle wieghts ( ive ordered them but eric said hes out of stock and im second in line)

I would say 85% of the set up on this rig i copied from Chris. He let me drive his SS and that sucker is sweet so i figured he had a good starting point on this progess chassis.

I definitly need to do a lot of tuning to get it to my liking but cant what to drive it! I really hope my knuckle Weights show up before the next comp.

Roller

Electronics freakin tight fit!

Broods are the chit! super smooth!

Sliders

Battery mount

Well it lasted one comp and then i ripped the uper link mount in the front off!

So for now i put the aluminum plates on and ordered up some 1/b Delrin to play around with. Do you guy know what the wieght deference between aluminum and delrin is?

Ow i also added 6m spacers the up front shocks at the chassis side. and my dlux bling showed up!

I noticed you flipped your knuckle to go the right way around. Why the swap back to original?

When he had his stock knuckles on they were flipped. But with VP goodies there is no reason to do that mod. You get a lot more turning with vp knuckles.

That sucks about the chassis B. At least you ran all the course! I was about two seconds from grabbing my truck and toss it in the sound. That is the reason I left.

Just need to get out and tune these things.

I don't was the same thing to happen at the next comp. specially since its so deep!

Why is it that you get more steering with the vp knuckles?

Like knoja said VP knuckles dont need to be fliped.

Stockers when flipped act like a after market longer arm. for cheap!

Ok so heres an update on my XR

Ok so ive bein seein all these SA's pop up and really liked the geometry but didnt want to join the crowed. Then this bad boy poped up and i feel in love!

I used my progress rear lowers with jatos at the skid and then made the rest of the links out of 1/8th grade 5 TI ( this shit sucks to thread buy hand)

Then i tried to make my own sliders with the drill press. I will give it another try later and try to get the angle not so steep.

I used the carbon plates off my progress chassis to make some dubbler pades for the front shocks. So the brace could be all the way forward so when im beatin on it to roll back over i dont snap the nose of the chassis. ( in theory)

turdo on here use this 3/16ths hollow 6061 for spreaders and loved it so i did the same.

Belly is at 3 3/8 seems alittle tall i think but im going to give it a run cause everything else came out money!

Dont know how the cab will hold up but man i love this chassis!

Panels are next!

It looks like it would be weak but it is actually VERY rigid.
