Default Whats gonna break first?

Im really thinking about pulling the trigger on getting a xr10 roller, im just curious on whats going to need to be upgraded. Im more of a backyard basher but do hit the occasional comp, so I would rather build stout.

Yes, do some searching... but what is your budget like? If you're just shooting for a backyard basher, things like larger bearings in the motor plate, RC4WD gears, and some bronze bushings (VP, Traxxas) will get you going with good reliability.

Project uber cheap and effective XR
This is a good read.

2 Tekin FXR's, or one FXR and a Punk dig. Over all two esc's with a four channel radio is the way to go.

So you still have not, bothered to read Harley's guide. Fxr's are ok but you will be better served by a pair of castle creations mcro side winders. Check out Harley's guide look at a few build threads and go from there. You will be able,to answer all of your own questions with just a little research.

Ah...he's trying to build up his post count....
Really though, I read this forum for two months before I purchased my XR...then promptly started to upgrade the thing....but if you build it stock and do it well, it will last a long time. A buddy of mine ran stock for a loooong time...and he wasn't nice to it...
Change out the steering link right away though...can't believe they actually did it that way...total garbage

Have fun.

Then why ask questions that you ought to already know the answers to. Btw mine was not the only reply suggesting that you ought to search. Have fun with xr10 if you decide to buy it

+1, dual ESC's are the best way to go. The other option is a dig + 1 CC ESC. I used to run a Mamba Max + servo dig.

I'm running dual FX-R's right now in a 2.2 Bully, no where as good as dual CC Mamba Max's. Most are "picky details", but overall I prefer the CC ESC's & will be changing my Bully back to CC dual ESC's (not sure which ones yet).

For the CC's:
-Better drag brake
-More worthwhile options for throttle/brake curves (you set, not some canned available settings)
-Ability to program 1 ESC, save the profile then load into a 2nd ESC
-CC link can be used to program CC BEC's

Or go with what you want. Yeah he has some time in, but just get what you want, Harley isn't god...maybe to some...just sayin...

Forums are about asking questions and having people help with mutual respect. Not shoving you to another thread because "one" guy said so...

If searching was a rule, they would filter out ways to "repost"

So...keep on keepin on...
