Nice rig man! That's a great chassis. I would flip those shocks right away. In the last pic you have a lot of flex, might wanna limit that a bit too. Cheers |

Thanks. I'm planning on flipping the fronts and going with stiffer springs. It seems too loose the way the shocks are now. What weight oil are most running in their shocks. I have 40 in there know. Is that a good starting point?

SO to limit the shocks do you do it internally or externally? Externally I would think just some rubber shim or maybe gas line. How do you limit them internally?

Your ride height doesnt seem to be to bad so i would just say externally. And yeah, I use nitro fuel tube and its perfect. To limit internally, you need to take out the oil, unscrew the rodend from the shock shaft and push the shaft up through the shock. Then put the spacer on the shaft and slide it up to the piston. Slide the shaft back into the shock, screw the rod end back on, and fill the shock up like normal. Hope this helps |

Thanks!!! I kinda thought that was how but wasn't sure on what to do to make sure you didn't damage the inside of the shock body. I'll try 1/4" and see where that gets me as a starting point. Yes my ride height is at 3 1/4" front and 3 7/16 rear. I did alot research looking at others build to figure the ride height but I am still a somewhat noob at this. Again thanks for the help!!! |

I was wondering if someone could help me out on explaining why anyone would want to go to a 16 turn motor when I have 45's and seem to have enough wheel speed. I am thinking of upgarding motors and was going to go to 35T. Also which motors should I choose? HH, Brood something else? What I'm looking for is a top notch motor that is reliable and can be re-built when the time comes. Any advice would be much appreciated!!!

They are not actually 16t. They are rated different so iiirc they are equivalent to about a 35t.

Basically the torque of a 35 With the speed of a 16, but I am not exactly sure if this is how it works though, the brands? Either Holmes hobbies or brood motors. They are both of great quality

Maybe an email to holmes hobbies to help decide which motors to turn to. Have my local comp coming up this weekend (weather pending ) and will be the last for those motors. Thanks for the info!!!

I know guys who have run both and they all say the same good and bad things about each, the personal preference seems to be the biggest defining factor. From running a couple of their rigs with very close to the same setups my personal expereince is the 16t holmes hobbies crawlmasters are basicly comparable to a 35t in performance, just a little smoother in the bottom end. the 35t brood apocalypse hhk-r's are a little snappier and have a little more torque/drag brake. Personally I liked the snappy response of the broods. Mark Reel has run both I am sure if you want to pm him he would be happy to share his thoughts on them as well but really you can't go wrong with either of them. | |
