Default traxxas big bore shocks ???

I see alot of people running these (traxxas big bore shocks) so i went ahead and bought them with losi springs and doug's spring retainers. My question is with the shock mounted upside down what are you using for a bushing on the shock cap end? I tried to mount them with the stock rubbers from the axail shocks but they were too big. I tried to use the traxxas stock mounts but that didn't allow the shock to angle in tords the chassis. So what is everyone using for this?

Absolutely useless...

I had this issue myself and was curious what the shock cap mod had to do with the bushing

I used some fuel tubing Vertner

You can drill the hole to fit a revo ball end (good)

or Cut the hoop off, drill a hole in the flat part under the bladder, and run a screw from inside out and thread a rod end on it (better)

That's the shock cap mod in a nutshell.

Here is the thread I found from searching Shock Cap Mod in the General section...

The 4962 is a set of 8 shocks not 2 or 4. They are also the longer then the 2660. If I remember corretly they come in:
2660 large = 3 1/2" length
2661 X-large = 4"
2662 XX-large = 4 1/2"

Hope that helps!!!

2660 is "Long" 3.5";
2661 is X Long 3.75";
2662 is XX Long 4";

4962 is just a pack of 8 2662 with spring.

Notice from Terry's vid, it's MUCH easier drilling from the top where you cut the hoop off because you don't have to start drilling through any anodising - it's tough!

Also, if you get the 8 pack, use the 4 spare rod ends for the cap mod

JeepinDoug's stand off shock ball mounts, 5mm and 6mm

Nah, not tough at all. Try drilling stainless steel or armor plating.

I went to Mc Master Carr and ordered some cobalt steel 1/8" drill bits. $2.28 each. I think I picked up 5 of them. Still have 4 cause I was a goof and used one to drill something else.

They punch right through the anodizing.
I clamp the hoop in the vise and drill from the inside of the cap out, then use the dremel to buzz off the hoop.

The other option is to use some of the custom caps.
Look in the vendor section, I think DLux was making them for a while. They completely replace the cap with a custom cap made for a revo ball end.

That does help, thanks! But, are those eye-to-eye dimensions (I'm guessing yes) and do guys use the 2660's for comp rigs much? Which mini-t springs (F or R) match each shock length?

Don't wanna spoil anything, but I believe this is right, measurements are e2e.

Most commely used are the 2660's with shock cap mod (which makes it 4"), or you could use the 2662's with a Dlux standoff for bigbores.

Losi mini-T front springs are shorter then the rear spings, normal way to use would be 2660 with front springs and 2662 wit rear springs. Offcourse you could use the front springs on the larger 2662, but you would have to use external limiters.

Yeah that's them. I used them on my second, mostly stock, XR and now gonna use them on my BJ4 which still has the stock shocks on it.

I think they work really well ...
