Default New to me XR10

Ok so I did some trading and got rid of my losi 4wd scte and picked up a good condition xr10

I run a futaba 4pk radio

it has a c-170 hobbico servo
novak m2 esc with 45 turn motors
high clearance machined links
hot bodies rover tires
and a carbon radio tray.

i am pretty sure everything else is mostly stock.

So I am kinda torn on where to throw some upgrades to it. Right now it is running a body, I would really like to have a bodiless setup. But the speedo is a big concern for me, 2s limit and I have read about issues with it.

So if you had about $200 to spend where would you go with the money.

1. I could pick up a pair of fxr speedo's
2. I could get a chassis plate and ?
3. I could order wheels axle weights and knuckles?

What upgrades are going to actually help me crawl the most.

Ok my thought are this:
if you want new esc's pick up sidewinder micros about 60 each new but only if your having issues with your m2, also get a bec.
open the transmissions to see whats in thr and make sure you service it while your thr. Up graded motor plates and gears will give you reliability.
Next steering, get some knuckles and chaotic tie rod so you can turn better
One of the biggest improvemnts that is the least exspensive is your tire foams, look up crawler innovations for some sweet foams (one of the biggest differences I made to my rig) also check the classified section for some used wheels or narrrow the stock ones.

The thing that will help you the most is experience!!! The more drive time you get the better you will be and know what you need to do to tune your rig better!!!

I already had read that this morning, lol

I have an ae-2 axial speedo I could use with a dig. I want to get it light and on a diet.

I am working with novak at the moment to get them to update the speedo, I think it will be solid, I have a bec for it as well. I am going to run 3s with 19 turn motors. I am also going with a 850mah 40c nano tech pack or a 460mah 25c nanotech depending on which works out better.

Educate me on axles, do I really need a $40 gear set and expensive housings on both ends, that is adding $100 to each axle?
I want them solid and I want to lay down power so if it something I have to do then I will bite the bullet

Also school me on wheels, what is my best bang for the buck and crawler inovations will be getting an order really soon.

If anyone has a proven tire wheel and foam setup that wont break the bank that would be great. I think I have white rovers on stock wheels.

I had problems with the rear gears popping and I did Mark Reel's screw mod to the rear housing. So far it seems to be a huge help. I am running stock housings with 9mm bearings and Traxxas bushings and Axial machined top and bottom final drive gears.

I have the stock motor plates with the Avid 9mm flanged bearing kit. The bearings in the gearbox cover as well as the bearing on the end of the top final gear shaft, I replaced with Traxxas 8mm bushings (TRX3775). 2.5x4x8 I believe is the size of the bushings.

Flanged in the motor plate yes. Straight bearings in the gear case.

There is a wealth of knowledge in the XR section. Search can be a pain sometimes, but it can also lead to other things you may not have even thought of. Just read my friend, and do a lot of it. LOL.
