Default Wheels for the YXL

Today I discovered that I have stripped out the hub on one of my wheels.
Now after this last run the Yeti landed hard on the single back rear wheel and cracked it in half. What are some stronger wheel options that will work on this thing? Does anyone make aluminum wheels this size? Wheels are gonna have to be my next upgrade.

I chose to put RC4WD 40 series Mud Slingers on Proline 1/2" offset F-11 wheels. Just a little taller and wider than stock. Looks nice. I have not used them much at all though. Too dang snowy this winter.

How are you going to sit there and say "Too dang snowy this winter" when you have a Yeti XL and those MONSTEROUS tires and wheels?!?!?! I don't think you are trying hard enough - LOL!

How much do the RC4WD tires and wheels weigh versus the Stock tires and wheels?

Nice looks good I like the smiley faces and the lights too
But Exactly what redsawacs said you gotta get out there with it
I'm almost wishing that the snow would stick around longer it's so much fun with the mudslingers

I've got the mudslingers on stock rims without the foams and the vent holes taped up and they work great.

The lighter and fluffier the snow the slower you have to go to stay on top. But if you have some thick dense snow its tons of fun.

I've got a few videos on YouTube under the channel. McD64

The videos aren't great, but you can see that it does pretty good in the snow

Take a red work rag and zip tie it to the frame and under the front suspension to keep all the snow out of the chassis

Every time I take it out I have a blast!!! Just use compressed air to get most of the snow off and then stand it up or leave it upside down to drain any excess water. I water proofed my servo and put grease in the bucket as an added measure.
Go have fun with it

No they don't. I don't think zero offsets would even work. I actually just added some +6mm 17mm hexes last nite to widen the stance a bit. The pics are with regular +0 Traxxas 17mm hexes.

And to all you sloppy messy people. LOL...I like to keep my RCs clean. Don't get me wrong....I use them as much as possible but not in water/mud/snow etc... I have a favorite giant grassy field I use them in.

They are for a Revo. I got them off EBay. You have to bore the ID to make them fit. Most guys use a 8mm (5/16) drill and drill down 1/2 way for them to fit. I put mine in a lathe and bored them so it would not give me wobbley wheels from an off center hole. If you have a real slow drill press and a vise you could do it with a drill and be good.

Weigh? Not sure. Not much though just by holding them. I don't have a kitchen scale. The F-11 wheels are light.

Hey fordfreak95 I ordered a set of mudslingers. I was wondering if you did anything to compensate for the larger diameter? Like change the pinion?

Ya i have a 14 tooth pinion and a 64 tooth Robinson spur. I think I need a 13 tooth though. These tires are kind of heavy after running them a good few times now.
redsawacs.. I may have a touch of OCD. I spend a lot of time cleaning after every run.

Do the proline wheels work with stock tires? I like the tires on my kit version, but would like to upgrade the wheels. I stripped one of my hexs in the wheel too! on 4s LOL! Good thing the kit came with five wheels...

I bought the F11 wheels to use with the Krawlers, they do not work. They are not the same bead system. I then bought the Pro-Line "Tech 5" wheels, those do work, HOWEVER, they are only offered in ZERO offset, so the wheels are so close to the chassis that they are useless as well. I'd need to buy extended hubs to use them, so I haven't even bothered gluing them yet.

I can say that the stock wheels from a Thunder Tiger MT4 will work, since I have a spare set here. I can mount them tonight and show what they look like.. Or show how they all mount so no one else wastes cash!

Do you happen to have the part numbers? Or where you bought them? Seems like everything I search comes up for the small yeti

Just for clarification.
I understand The mt4 wheels have correct offset.
Do The mt4 wheels work with stock yeti XL tire beads?

Thx in advance!
