Talking New Shoes! (KMC XD Rockstars)

Vanquish advertised these wheels being in stock and the price didn't seem too bad. I have some RC4WD Rok Lox in transit and figured why not? I knew I wanted to paint wheels to match my truck and these make it super easy since the accents unscrew. VP was nice enough to call and tell me the price was in fact per wheel so I had to add to my order - DOH. They showed up today in FL from CA in just 2 days with basic shipping! A couple more shots of clear tonight and hopefully the Rok Lox arrive at a decent time tomorrow so I can curse up a storm trying to glue some ginormous tires!

There is a bit of irony in me having these as they are so popular around here on the 1:1s that I have at times resented them. However I love 5 spoke wheels. These are lightweight and the right width. The plastic seems pretty strong, much like Vaterra's reinforced plastic. Can't wait to get them mounted up!

20 a wheel.

Still waiting for my new tires to arrive via FedEx....any minute now...before I start gluing things.

Oh listed for $40 on vps site when I looked. Guess they started selling them in pairs?

I put deuces wild CI foams in the rears and kept the stock in the front for impact mediation. I ran gorilla tape on the inside of the beads of all the tires but I don't think it grips the latticed reinforcements on the Falkens all too well. You can see the minimal amount of ballooning I get on the front. I am happy with this setup.

That's a nice rig you have there, I like your theme. Definitely interesting to see the rear has less ballooning than the front.

Looks great! What weight diff fluid are you using with your new set up? I'm running the Mickey Thompson MTZ's and some light wheels off the thunder tiger Mt4 G3. Im prob 10 packs in with my oversize tires and just starting to hear a lil clicking in the rear diff. Are the vanquish wheels heavy? Wt? Thanks

Awesome job matching your rig. Like the Orange accents.

Did you happen to weigh just the wheel compared to a stocker?

These wheels are not a Vanquish product, they just stock them in the store. They are probably a few grams heavier than stock wheels because of the 6 screws holding the accent pieces in place. They are plastic glue on type wheels. They have held up so far and I was ROUGH this last time out.

I run 100k fluid in front and 500k in the rear.

I was disappointed that the RC4WD Rok Lox were so big that they would shred the body with any bit of steering input at speed. They are huge tires. I still think I will mount the tires to the stock wheels and do some straight line bashing with giant saw blade balloon tires. Maybe a super wide offset would help.

Funny it looks proportionate to most Wraiths this way. It fills the entire range

Did you glue on the WildPeak tires? It looks like the tire bead for the KMC wheels are different from the stock style bead.

I glued the Falkens to the Rockstars. The beads fit very well actually. I applied AKA tire glue quite liberally and the tires are still on the rims. I only run 4s though.

Apparently after I ordered my wheels they updated the website to sell these in pairs. I got a phone call from I think it was Dan at VP telling me that I had only ordered two wheels and had a good chat with him. Top notch service! Wish my budget would allow for more VP goodies for all my rigs!

Wheels look trick! Love the orange accents on them. I'm wanting to get some trencher 40 series for mine but torn on which wheel to go with. Do I need a offset or will standard offset clear fine when turning?

go with 1/2 offset, I had zero offset prolines with the 6.8 inch tall trenchers and they hit the panels, even in the rear.

Ok thanks. I like the tread and tall design of the falkens but I used to run the trenchers on my bajas and savages and they worked great all the time.

How well are the rock stars holding up after running them for awhile now?

They have taken MANY jumps and tumbles. I have had my servo horn come loose from the servo, and finally ended up breaking a lower link mount but everything else has been solid. Pretty pleased with the whole setup. Offset is good.
