Default RC4WD Rear Housing

Went together perfect no issues at all. Gears are super smooth. Only problem is the screw for the top arm mount from the stock housing will not work as it is countersunk and the RC4WD mount is flat. Axial screw #AXA0094 works perfect. It absolutely adds some weight to the rear. Really not to thrilled with the small screws that hold the pinion housing to the main housing but there are a lot of em.

Is it updated in anyway to accept the HD pinion without the mod?

This looks great, really promising. I assume the BHB mod isn't required? And do you know the weight difference?

Don't know the pinion I used already has the BHB mod.

Looks great, but why do parts like this in black? They look terrible once the rock rash settles in......

Looks great Steve !! I'm sure a higher grade fastener can be found or possibly a hardened pin ?

I'm interested if it's going to bind up with the HD gears like the Vanquish does without the mod...

Some food for thought....If a gasket (spacer) was installed between the housing and third member it would pull the pinion away from the ring gear allowing the (stock Axial HD gear to be used) ...
Sort of like the option that I through at Harley. Adjustable pinion member..

Too bad companies don't read this shit lol

Good idea, in the turbo world when you crank your boost up you can lower compression by increasing head gasket thickness. I image it would be fairly easy to create a shim for this axle. Maybe rc4wd would consider making a shim for it depending on what gears they designed it around

Oho I know about that old trick... in the opposite manner... thinner or no gasket at all for higher compression in naturally aspirated engines lol I'm sure pro mod Steve could probably teach us a thing or two!
But yes that's exactly the concept that I was conveying. Adjustable pinion mesh shims ..

Well after a lot of rain finally got out today to put a basing on this thing. I really like it. Ran 3 6S packs today and not 1 issue. The weight seems to help that too light in the rear issue as far as bouncing off the ground from a jump.

Any videos Steve? I think the stock one looks cooler, but I haven't driven mines yet. It's still incomplete. Seems like I've spent more time upgrading parts, before I even put in electronics.

Hey Steve: I have a tip for holding the cage in the up position. Use a longer screw with a rubber bushing, in the rear screw hole for the upper link mount on top of the pumpkin. Works great and does not seem to get in the way of anything else[ATTACH]Name: IMG_0369.jpg
