| My first Yeti XL!
Hi everyone. I've been lurking on these threads for awhile, and you all were part of what got me to finally jump on a Yeti XL. Built it this past weekend, and finally had a chance to get it out for a brief test run tonight. Holy crap this thing is a beast! I've been watching many of your experiments and mods. Right now mine is stock from the kit - it's the newer kit that includes the helical gears. Any suggestions for upgrades I should get ready? I know that many have issues with the diffs, and I'm hoping that the newer gear set will solve at least some of that, but we will see. I'm also thinking about one of the upgraded servo saver assemblies. I'd really like to get into a 2 speed: does anyone know if Axial is ever going to release their version? Also, what's the consensus on the HR or Dhawk versions? I haven't been able to find much in the way of reviews. I went hobbywing: the XR8 Plus and 4272 motor (2250 kv). It's a full sensored set up and runs really beautifully at low speeds. I've got the wifi module that lets me program the ESC with my phone and also does data logging and stuff. I don't know if its worth the price but it's a fun gadget. Running a Savox SC-1268SG servo. I was going to post some pics but I don't seem to be allowed. Anyone know how I can fix that? |

I think BHB has some youtube vids on the 2-speed. I think you have to have 30 posts before you can post pics. Don't go post whoring to get there they don't like that here. Welcome to the fun. |

That's my favorite kind of whore. Ok, maybe second favorite. BHB, have you been running your 2 speed? How's it holding up? Dhawk's eBay store seems to be down right now, but once he gets back up and running I am seriously considering his 2 speed kit. Thanks! -Pete |

I probably got about 50 to 60 Runs through it and within that time I had transmission failure but the gear survived without a knick . I wanted to wait till I got a adjustable 3 channel receiver. I found a couple of advantages over the HR far as design but the HR has its advantages as well... I like idea of the flanged bearings & tight tolerances on the Dhawk but the servo & servo mount is pretty trick on the HR...
