Default SSD Knuckle clearance?

Has anyone compared the SSD Yeti scale knuckles to the OE and VP parts?

I'm wondering if there are any differences in clearance...

The main clearance issue with Exo and Yeti knuckles is the arm.
The SSD Yeti knuckle steering arm actually has a little more clearance than the stock Yeti knuckle.

Mine fit perfect, nothing hitting or binding and to me they are a much beefier than the Exo knuckles.

That would be something to note in the details section when ordering. Nice knuckles but I ordered stock length links and then had to order adjustable turnbuckles after the fact. So I'm out 25 bucks.

You paid too much for turnbuckles then. I spent $15 for Traxxas 3643 turnbuckles, which I know have been posted in several different threads multiple times. BMRC turnbuckles are $20, unless you're including shipping.

Installed mine the other night and after making my turnbuckles the same length as the OE parts, I had to shorten them to push the tow out some. Very nice quality parts, though!

Bearings are a tad loose in my SSD's. Not perfect fit like VP or STRC's. So there is a little wheel slop. I'll try some other bearings and see what happens. Clearance is good.

Which bearings? My outers slide in pretty easy, but are by no means loose. And the inners I had to apply a pretty good amount of force to get in to place.

Stock Axial bearings that came w/kit. Inner bearing only. I'm gonna swap out with some Protek and see if that cures the slop.

I ordered dlux ti links assuming the ssd knuckles were the same as oem. There are a few others that had my same problem. Just saying they should let ppl know they require turnbuckles instead of ti links. That way ppl don't have to pay twice. Got the traxxas turnbuckles on the way. Thanks for the link.

Oh, I agree. I had the same issue....sort of. Instead of mine being toed in, mine were toed out. So maybe they have some inconsistencies in their manufacturing process. Might be worth talking to them about it.

I found this out last night when I installed mine. I think some of it has to do with caster block choice as well.
The STRC caster blocks require a sitter camber link.
The SSD knuckles required shorter steering links with this combination.

Cutting off a couple steering link threads is necessary with the stock kit turnbuckles.

Definitely no inconsisties in the knuckles. Everybody is mixing brands so all sorts of variations will arise.

We will add a note about the toe in onto the product page to make it clear.

After replacing bad inner bearing all is good. This is a great product and competitively priced. Heavy duty and made well and perfect tolerances. I had no problems w/stock links and ends (Kit version). Plenty of room for adjustments.

Thanks SSD for a quality product.
