Over/stock in a fast vehicle will put an enormous strain on the drivetrain. If you aren't snapping driveshafts, then the back end will be hopping all over the place at speed.

So over/under is my best option? Or just leave it stock

If you want to go fast just keep stock/stock (maybe under/under or over/over) and play with the spur/pinion instead. specially if you drive in high grip terrain.
Over/under is great if you want to crawl/hill climb and kinda go slow and low grip surfaces.

I went underdrive front and rear. Supposedly, this ratio yields the best mesh. I feel the stock gearing is already bordering on being too tall for the Vanguard system. Extended high speed runs, the motor gets super hot. Any low speed crawling and the esc quickly rises in temp. Besides the better mesh and lowering temps slightly, the UD gears also give the added benefit of less torque twist.

I run OD/HD in my scx10 and HD/UD (f/r) in my wraith. But it definitely puts a drag in the drivetrain. As others have said, I wouldnt recommend it in the yeti. Use the same ratio front and rear, whatever you choose.

Anyone have any problems fitting the overdrive gear in the front diff case?

There shouldn't be any problem. I had zero issues fitting the HD Underdrive gears and Axial locker in the front of mine.

One thing, you might want to remove the front skid plate unless you want to pry the assembly into the case.

This is not true.. Strain, Sure. But not like this user is describing..

I run over/under, on a 3500kv HH Puller motor, And can run full open throttle and never even notice the ass end being dragged, let alone hopping lol.

Now. When running on a sidehill, The ass end going slower can have a tendency to want to pull the ass of the truck down the hill. Just a smidge of driving adjustment can clear that up however.. The perks so far have far outweighed any perceived con.

Thanks, I hadn't heard of the problem before. But my front OD gear literally touch the front diff case in several places not by much but enough to give it a rough feel. I'm running the Dlux big bearing mod as do many. I'm starting to wonder if I got a out of spec counterfeit 43/13 gear set?
