Default Yeti kit turned to Trophy Truck

Right after the Axil Trophy Truck was announced, I bought a Yeti kit and built it, as I knew the TT was for me. Once the RTR was available I bought one for my son; I then I waited for the Axial TT bodies to be released.

Over the time, I upgraded parts on the Yeti as needed. (I did drive the kit)

Upgrades:
Delux rear axle with beef tubes (waiting for the centered Currie F9)
Lunsford titanium turnbuckles
Holmes 540 XL
Mamba Monster X
Axial aluminum Motor Mount
Hitec 9380 servo
Vanquish Caster Blocks and Knuckles
RC4WD Dune XT tires
Vanquish OMF beadlocks (.225 and .600 hubs)
Crawler Innovations 4.25" closed cell foams

After months of waiting, I finally have my Yeti TT. Last week, I hustled on the paint because my son and I wanted to take our trucks with us to the Mint 400. It was a blast running the trucks together down in Primm.

The paint job was inspired from the 'Rough Riders' a desert race team of the 90s.

So far the tires have been great. The stock foams are too soft, the tire would fold right over on a hard turn. I fixed that by adding a Crawler Innovations closed cell for a 1.9 wheel that measured 4.25 to the stock foam.

The tires are a bit shorter than the Axial TT tire but about the same width.

Looks like they were made for the truck "thumbs" Are you going to run a spare? does it nose down over jumps without the extra weight?

I have an order from Vanquish and RPP coming in. With those orders I am putting together a matching spare and getting different springs for the shocks. It does nose down pretty hard at this time.

I am looking forward to the suspension tuning of this truck. Dialing in suspension is a favorite aspect to this hobby.

I am debating on going with the second shock in the rear; first reason is to be more like a real TT and second to help get the ass end under control. At this time the nose is real heavy in the air and the ass end is flopping around on the bumps.

Pic of the chassis.

Looks like you are using the stock yeti bumper? Got any pics of the front end. Nice work by the way the paint job is killer.

Good eye. That pic was from a couple/few weeks ago, before the TT body. If there is something in particular you are looking for, let me know. Here's a couple of more recent pics.

Thank you for the compliments on the paint job. It was my most ambitious/challenging paint job to date. Also, I forgot to mention in my upgrades list, I went with the Vanquish bell cranks and Axial F1 toe block.

In my son's RTR he is running the stock springs and pistons with 20w in the rear and 30w in the front.

My kit turned TT, I am running the optional pistons (slow comp, fast rebound) with 27.5w in the rear and 35w in the front. I have the Yellow 14x70mm (AX30221) springs in the front and the Yellow 14x90mm springs in the rear (AX30216).

I have more tuning to do on mine after I get new wheels and tires.

Also, for the record, the Dune XT tires are okay for general trail riding, etc... Since my son and I each have a TT we have been racing. That is where the Dune XT tires fail; poor traction, flimsy sidewall that just seems to be getting worse. I will be going to the Axial TT tire. My son's RTR TT is a great handling RC, where as my TT is a ball of chaos.

I had planned to keep my body all nice and scratch free.... I should have known better.

Here's a video I threw together of our session last Sunday. Good times.
(first time using Go Pro Studio)
