I use stock pins with RPM arms and a Vanquish skid plate. The trick is to drill out the A-arm pivot points with a 3/16" bit and cut to fit some 316 stainless tubing to encapsulate the hinge pin. I tried to buy the Strong Arm modified arms, but he's not selling any at the present time.

I went from bending both hinge pins every bash session to not bending them at all.

If you want, I'll send you the Amazon link for the stainless tubing.

You can make 3 sets with one 12" tube.

If I bend my current stock hinge pins, I'm going to experiment with heat treating.

For my outers, I use Lunsford ti pins for the slash. For the inners, I use these: McMaster-Carr Theyre stronger than stock but Ive still bent a couple. But who cares? I have a whole bag of spares.

I use these Carter Fab & Machine » Axial Yeti Hinge Pin Upgrade Kit which I think is just the above linked bolts from McMaster-Carr.

FWIW I think anything you use will get bent until you upgrade the lower front bulkhead to an aluminum piece.

^^ They look similar. Grade 12.9, just not black oxide coated. And all of my bent screws were achieved in spite of an STRC front skid...

I do believe the issue with bent inner hinge pins is the lack of support on the middle of the pin and not the pins themselves. If the pins are held solid on either end, the stress is going to be directed at the middle of the shaft. The answer is a larger diameter pin or an A-arm that supports the pin. The strong arm sleeve is the best fix for now in my opinion.

I swapped out the stock skid plate since the journals were wallowed out from the pins, and even more so from constantly removing the bent pieces of old pins.

Newest build.

The test mule. Multiple 3s bash sessions filled with plenty of ridiculous abuse. No ill effects (save for some broken knuckles, a dogbone, and a rear wheel.

I made my own upgraded arm too with the stainless steel sleeve and added the carter fabrication hinge pin.
Best upgrade for the front suspension.
I hit my mailbox pole at full speed broke my servo. When I removed the hinge pin, straight and undamaged
Made a few extra arms for few friends and they were happy.

I just did this mod with the stock control arm. Noticed the arm can move front to back. Should I have cut the tube longer? Never noticed this movement before.

I want to upgrade to the rpm arms and better pins, this is just temporary to get me going. Figured it's a quick and easy mod in the meantime. Cut longer 3/16 sleeves and it took the slop out for now. Should get me through a few bashing sessions.lol

Good Idea, but the sleeve with 12.9 hinge pin has been working for me. I been bashing the hell out of my Yeti, no more bent pins.

The debate, of what to use in place of the stock hinges pins, has been going on since the platform was out. I'm not sold on the whole "beefing up" the inner hinge pins on the Yeti. I look at it like... when someone trying to use aluminum arms. In a bad high speed/weird landing situation, and the energy possibly being transferred to a more expensive part to be replaced. IMO I'd rather keep on hand something that costs a few cents to replace.
