Default Another Yeti Noob

Just about ready to pull the trigger on a Yeti kit. It will be my first 1/10 scale. I have a 1/24 Losi Micro SCTE brushless and a Losi trail Trekker. Took them outside once and that was it, I needed to go bigger!! Here is my shopping list so far:

Axial Yeti 1/10 Kit

Spektrum DX4C DMSR 4Ch AVC Tx w/ SRS4210 Rx (went with Spektrum so I can use it with my Losi's)

Savox SAVSW1210SG waterproof servo

Holmes Hobbies Puller Pro BL 540 XL 3500kv + Castle Creations Mamba Max Pro ESC combo and Castle Creations BEC 10A

Still hung up on a Lipo and charger. From reading here 3s seems the way to go. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Edit:

Trigger pulled. Now the wait.

AXL90025 Yeti Rock Racer 1/10 Scale Elec 4WD Kit
SPM4210W Spektrum DX4C DSMR 4Ch Radio AVC Tx/Rx w/SR4210

I have the same setup Pro Puller 540XL and MMP and it rocks!

Hobbyking have a 3s lipo that fits perfect if you put a bit of foam under the battery to clear the battery tray door!
Turnigy nano-tech 5000mah 3S 45~90C Lipo Pack (EU Warehouse)

I use the SkyRC RS16 charger and SkyRC EFUEL Power Supply and it works great for me!

That HH motor will be plenty fast on 2S. 3S makes the Yeti very squirrelly if you don't have much control. Other than that, good luck on your build and send up some pics!

3S always please! specially with this motor.
SPC Racing have great batteries in excellent prices.
I use the 7200mAh and 5000mAh in the Yeti and 4300mAh in the Bomber. Again, always 3S.

With this radio you can enable the AVC. It helps a lot to keep it straight.

I don't believe that the MMX Pro is waterproof? The Mamba X is and it is set up for higher weight trucks and 1/8 scale demands.

Just a thought.

I have been having good luck with the Vant battery, 6500maH,3S and Amazon has them for about $65

How well does the AVC work, I have a Yeti on the way and I was thinking about putting a SRS4200 to use with my DX4c instead of the Axial remote.

I thought the AVC was really cool. I was able to thread the truck between objects with confidence. The bummer is that since I installed the 2 speed I can not longer use the AVC. I wish I could have both.

I also recommend the SPC Racing 3S batteries. Got a few of them for my Yeti and Stampede. 3S 4300mah...pretty sure you can fit bigger in the Yeti, but I like to let it cool down a bit after running 3S that hard w/ the stock motor. With the upgraded system you probably won't have that concern. Tho mine really isn't a concern as I've never had it shut down, just a precaution I take.

AVC is great for the faster/U4 rigs. I use in my Yeti and my Slash 4x4
But if you wan to Trail/Crawl is useless.

I had the same "problem" and took the 2 speed out of the Yeti and installed on the Bomber.

Thanks for the input! Decided it's not in my budget right now to get the HH combo so I'm just going to grab the stock motor and esc off of ebay or something since they will be roughly half the cost. I'll probably just go 2s and 20t pinion for now.

Edit: Just checked SPC Racing's site and all their higher mAh packs are sold out :(

You can't have both with a 4c rx?

AVC uses the 2 extra channels
So you basically have a 2ch radio with AVC
Or disable the AVC and have a 4 ch radio

So with 6 channels we can have it all? Pricey DX6R 6-Channel DSMR Smart Radio System WiFi/BT (SPM6400): Spektrum - The Leader in Spread Spectrum Technology

I am heading in the direction of a bomber and keeping the yeti set up for speed.

I'm planning to install the 2 speed trans and leave it in high gear and with the AVC enabled until I go somewhere that is more suitable for crawling then disable AVC and use the 2 speed gearbox. That is provided it's possible to do that.

Not yet. They still need to make a "6ch avc receiver" and in theory it paired with DX6R.

Did exactly it. Yeti for "go fast" and bomber for "almost as fast but can go slower"

you cannot keep the 2speed servo connected while using the AVC. you need to physically lock in one speed.
