Just thought I would toss some pics up of the newest member of the Eritex Inc. family..... This is what I saw sitting next to my shop when I got there this morning. The riggers unloading the Haas off the trailer. The guy with the hard hat on is possible the tallest guy I have ever seen in person. Setting it down outside to unwrap the new toy. When the riggers got to this point I was a little worried, I thought it was from NASA not Haas. Unbolting it from the pallet. A shot from inside my shop. At this point it was off the pallet and on its way in the door. Getting it lined up and ready to set in place. And there it is, one Haas MiniMill set in place and waiting for the Haas tech to come out and fire it up. Hopefully I will be making chips by Saturday. For those of you who know about these things, it has the optional chip auger, the wireless probing system, rigid tapping, coolant pump, and a couple other goodies on it. Man I can't wait to get it running |

Sweet! I really wish I would have been able to stay and work at this machine shop in Phoenix before I moved. I would have worked with all kinds of mills. I really want to get back into it too.

Sweeeeet!!!!!! So do I get the "local boy" discount? LOL! Sorry I couldn't make it out to your shop this weekend. Both the kids are sick and when I asked the wife was like "ohhhh no. You're not leaving me here alone with two sick kids so you can go play." I'll make it out there sometime though, I promise. Maybe I can stop by this weekend and watch you play with the new toy. |

A little update.... 1. The install and setup went WAY sideways. The Haas Tech didn't show up to get the machine setup until the 26th. Thats right, $40,000.00 sat there for 12 days not doing a thing. Then, when he did show up, he broke it. Yup, the tech killed the probing system. The parts had to be ordered out of California and didn't get here until I was out of town for a training course for MasterCAM. 2. This past Monday the Haas applications guy came out and was going to familiarize me with the Haas controller but instead he spent all day fixing and recalibrating the Renishaw probe. Tuesday I had meetings and other obligations so I didn't get any time on the Haas that day. 3. Wednesday through Friday I had a different application guy come to the shop. This guy is pretty bright and walked me through Haas' newest controller and helped me acclimate to its little idiosyncrasies. the toughest thing was getting used to the Renishaw. Going from manual setup to probing setup is a little unnerving. I was pleasantly surprised to see my manual setup and the probing setup only had a .0002" max difference on the tool and work piece. Not to bad. It does speed up setup by about a factor of 10. For you machinists imagine this. First, you build a fixture that has lets say 10 locations in it that need to be located for separate work offsets. You do not have stops or location pegs to mount this fixture up against, you are just clamping it to the bed. Now, without the probe you would need to square the fixture up with the table and locate it and the 10 pockets. For me this would take about 90 minutes because I am way to fussy about this kind of stuff. With the probe I spent about 8 minutes, including clamping, from the time I had said fixture sitting on the bench until I was ready to start cutting parts. God bless Renishaw and Haas. 4. I have the 2.2 wheel fixture done and start testing it Monday. Right now production on 2.2 beadlocks will start Tuesday with about 3 days of tweaking to get the process locked down and times figured out. When I reach that point, game on. I am excited about where Eritex Inc is at this point in time and look forward to adding to the hobby in new ways. This is just the beginning. Thanks for reading, Gerame |

Sweet! I can't wait to see the new wheels you're going to be selling. More options is always a good thing.
