im gonna call BS on this one even if it is true... its like making a 1:1 Lamborghini Diablo into a crawler: 1. Its a waste of money 2. Its a waste of money to keep it running |

Ha i dont care if you slap a .35 in a crawler or whatever you have. Your truck will, i repeat WILL never be as comp worthy as an electric setup. The added weight is quite a difference, especially after you throw in your fuel. Now a scale rig with a nitro/gas mini v-8 would be saweet. Pop the hood, clean the filter, open the fuel dooor.... fill her up.... now that would get me going. |

I see 2 problems with the super... First of all, I have yet to see someone stuff a tranny into an NN chassis to make a shafty, because it would be next to impossible to have a nitro clod... And second of all, nitro motors dont do steep inclines for long periods of time very well... Either they load up and die, or lean out and die. Anyway, thanks for the entertaining thread. | |

This whole thread was worth it just for that pic of Gomez Addams - that is the funniest sh!t I've seen in a while. Only 2 people seem to take this seriously. And neither is posting up hard data on the subject. It can't be done - not reliably and efficiently. You're gonna burn up clutches on the daily. Unless you fabricate an elaborate cooling system of some kind, you'll be going through pistons and sleeves like mad. You won't be able to climb, descend, or sidehill - the motor will load up or lean out and then stall. Unless you pressurize the fuel tank with a more efficient system than a piece of tubing hooked to the exhaust. Not worth it... |

First off, I completely agree that this guy is trolling and full of BS. That said, the idea of a nitro crawler is something I'd love to see. Maybe it wouldn't compete with the best electric setups, but if there was something as capable as a stock scorpion or lightly modified wheely-king, I'd be happy. It'd just have to be purpose-built. Very low geared tranny, seperate channel for throttle and brake, probably a new type of clutch, I don't think centrifugal would last. I've seen diesel conversions for engines like the 3.3 and some OS ones, much lower RPM ranges and more torque. It could be done, I think. I mean, you don't see many 1:1 electric crawlers ;) |
