I prefer the black oxide steel hardware also. I've gotten some screw kits from rpp hobby and tonysscrews.com is good also.

Every black oxide screw I have had on a crawler has ended up rusted after a while.... After the inside of the head gets scratched from the driver is where it will start. Then I find myself breaking out the WD40 to clean all of them up! Again I have never had any probs from SS screws. But I think having good tools helps a lot.

I will also use every one of the screws and nuts in that kit. A lot of it will be used on buggies, crawlers, ect...

I will def check out the other site, thanks guys

X2
rust has always been an issue for me when using black oxide. at times it gets so bad that the socket itself gets stripped because of said rust.
and if anyone is wondering, i only use hobby grade tools when i work w/ my rc stuff

That's the key to making the stainless hardware last longer. GOOD drivers with the ends ground from tool steel is the way to go IMO. I use a little of both, stainless and black oxide. Eventually, they'll all wear out.

mostly black oxide metric hardware, the Comp Crawler and Legends car the are the only SAE RC's I've ever owned. Don't like RCScrewz stuff either, especially if you need a 2mm or smaller wrench to remove them!

I use good tools, Dynamite ground and Hudy...

For some reason don't mind the WD-40 on a Q-tip touch up from time to time. But I'm not a scaler or basher...so obviously thats not as big issue for me. Though I see the point there.

As a racer though I've bent many a SS screw, and that is not an option.

Actually 1.48 pence. It is .1 cent of a euro or actually 100 screws for 1 euro up to M3x25mm then it is ~1.2 cent per screw or 100 screws for 1.19 euros. This is a hardware factory outside Athens and I buy wholesale at least 500 pieces of each size (box) at least 10 different sizes. That is 5000 pieces minimum. As I said they only have cap heads black oxide metric screws but in every possible thread.

Those are pretty cool, I bought the RCScrews set and have used almost every screw in it, now i just use the box and keep refilling it with screws from McMaster as i use them up.

That site takes you in circles? Can't find a price on any of the screws? You go through picking the screw, met or stan, then size, and it starts over again?

I buy all metric hardware, and source from McMaster. (Their Chicago Warehouse is 10 minutes from my office) Their SS stuff is good, but I prefer the Black Oxide just because it is a little harder, and does not round out as easily. It is nice to be able to get all my Delrin stock, Polycarbonate sheets, and Screws all at the same place. VERY handy.
