My question is how dose a drive not see things like that. Unless they are really trucking along not paying attention to the trail.

Maybe its just me I always look for things that may jump out and bite me.

Ouch for the driver of the truck and for the driver of the Jeep.

Bet they were really glad to get out of their vehicles with "the boys" still in tact.

Yeah that brush guard majorly screwed him there. The gate probably would have glanced off the fender if the brush guard didn't catch it. Never liked those brush guards myself.

I have had a friend who knows better than to drive too fat on unpaved and OHV roads. Even though I keep reminding him, he still manages to hit stuff. People drive too fast on dirt roads, and usually assume nothing is around the bend.

Thats a typical oilfield looking gate . There are thousands of them out there. The company I used to work for had a similar accident down in Texas. EXCEPT it speared the guy in the side and pinned him in the truck. They had to cut the pipe on both sides of the seat and haul him and the seat to the hospital.

Pretty crazy pictures.
A riding buddy of mine 12 or 15 years ago got speared by a tree branch that kicked up on the trail. Went through his leg and stabbed into his dirt bike. They were 30 or so miles from anything resembling civilization. Another friend went back to the trucks for a saw, had to cut him off the bike, then he had to ride out to the trucks with a section of the branch in his leg.
I was glad I skipped the ride that day.

This guy had to be going at a decent rate of speed for that to go through the fender then through the firewall....

Y'all are losing sight of what's truly interesting about all this. That late model Chevy truck had manual windows! Amazing...

BTW, eron, I love your sig!
