Default The REAL reason not to hit gates!

OR ANYONE WHO HAS A HUNTING CAMP OR DRIVES THROUGH GATES .

Most of us have to drive through access gates at some point of our driving careers.

We have had numerous incidents with gates swinging in the wind and hitting vehicles.

This guy caught a gate that was probably hidden by the tree line as he rounded the corner.

Look at all four pictures to see how lucky this guy really was.

I bet the first thing the driver checked was to see if
Mr. Wiggly and his two neighbors were still there.

Holy hell.

There used to be a few pictures floating around of a jeep that kicked up a large branch that punctured the firewall and ended up in the same spot...

sad thing, the bumper actually made it worse for him. Truck kept going and the bumper forced the gate into the side of the truck. If the bumper was not there, the gate would have bounced off.

X2

If that brush guard wasn't there it probably would have bounced off the truck, or at least left a nasty gouge down the side...

either way...yowch!

That wouldn't have helped, the JK mentioned above hit a what was probably 3"-4" diameter branch that did the same thing. Atleast with that flat on the end it could have slid under "the twins" instead of trying to go through them like that branch tried to do to the JK driver

Imagine flying around that corner on your quad or dirtbike doing about 45mph. Game over.

the branch cant be helped but i dont think you understand what i'm talking about.

a big rectangular gate versus a triangle shaped gate. instead of a point it would be a stright up and down tube

like this

Wow very lucky dude there, i second the square gate idea, pointed ones can do bad things think if it was an s10 or a car he was driving. he'd be dead.
