| Re: Cool Pictures That's JLP-3 More pics here 1981 Used Porsche 935 IMSA at Canepa Serving Scotts Valley, IID 9323526 Pretty much THE most successful 935, in 1982 it won? 24 Hours of Daytona 12 Hours of Sebring It recorded 7 consecutive wins and made 16 podiums in 27 races No doubt the car was exceptional but so were the drivers Derek Bell, Mauricio de Narvaez Rolf Stommelenand of course the owners John L Paul Sr and Jr Power estimates range from 500bhp through to mid 700bhp, not bad for around 900kg (plus ballast) Golden time for racing, shame the car didn't sell as it recently went up for auction, highest bid was $1,125,000 which didn't make reserve. | Re: Cool Pictures I'll see your piston and raise you the a destroyed head. There were pieces of piston and head all up in the intake for all 4 cylinders and aluminum chunks in 3 cylinders. The valve broke at maybe 2500 rpm as I was slowly shifting into 3rd. I can only imagine the damage if it had broken half an hour before when I was running 90+ on the freeway. |

You forget to take your foot off the pedal after the explosion? I had valve pieces everywhere, too. Intake plenum and runners to the oil pan. I didn't just lose a piston, I lost all four and all 16 valves. Can't find any pictures of that stuff, as it was a while ago, before we got all camera happy. The piston I kept though, and it's on my mantle. I kinda wish I was driving it, or at least in it to hear it go down. Buddy came running around the corner a few minutes after our other buddy in his car did. They were doing freeway on ramp rips. He's like, yo I think there's something wrong with your car! |

| Re: Cool Pictures There wasn't even a kaboom or anything it was the least drama to highest carnage event I've ever been a part of. It went vroooomchunkpinggarblesnap and I clutched it and coasted around the next corner into a parking lot. I don't have any pics but my uncles 67 Z/28 he races in a vintage trans-am series lost a rod at 4500 rpm. It bent pulled the piston out of the hole and shoved it in sideways. We pulled it down on the lift, I was removing exhaust and my brother the oil pan. About the same time I pulled the passenger header he got the pan off. He looked down and found 3 lobes of cam and I had a compression ring sticking out of an exhaust port. |

I thought the whole idea of southern buggy racing was to run into the same tree or rock over and over until your rig breaks.
