I picked up a similar virus from one of the threads here a few months ago. restart computer in Safe Mode with networking. open Internet Explorer ( even if you weren't using it when you got the virus) open Tools open Internet Options open Connections open LAN Settings if the Proxy Server box is checked, uncheck it. Close out of everything and run your up-to-date virus remover ( I use Spybot Search & Destroy). |

The following statement is not meant to inflame, enrage, agitate or instigate any bias, hatred or personal attack. Nor is it meant to discriminate against any single race, creed, ethnicity or religion. Now that that is out of the way. Please, for the love of God..... buy a Mac. I'll even help you get yourself all set up with your new virus free system. (2 posts or less before the flaming begins) |

If I could afford a MAC again I would. But all my programs I have spent money on all run on Windows.

all you do is restart in safe mode with networking, delete the problem app. and run a free program to remove adware / spyware. my coworker gets them on the computers at work all the damn time.

Just had this happen to me. I was browsing some motor theory books online and got a prompt for Sun Microsystems update for Java. Everything got locked down. I am running malwarebytes, hopefully I can double team it with CCleaner and removal of my browsers to get rid of it. Bleh, there goes most of my day. Hopefully I don't lose a ton of files.
