No, fire department showed up in full force. I counted three hoses from what I could see, No idea how many I couldn't see.

That completely sucks...

Looks like a newer home judging the houses around it, any ideas what started it?

Clarksville Fire Rescue was called and they found the home fully engulfed in flames and black smoke.

One person was inside the home and two dogs when the fire started. All escaped without injury.

A soldier and his wife sat on a grassy hill watching the home be devoured by fire as firefighters continued to fight the blaze. Fire Marshal Williams said it took awhile to get the fire under control.

The home was a total loss, Williams said. The family did have insurance.

Red Cross responded about an hour after the fire began to assist the family.
Some details.

that sucks, but is totally expected with all of these newer housing development houses.

there are a lot of housing developments popping up in my FD's territory these days, too!! the houses in these developments are all just slapped together super quick, and i always worry about fires breaking out in these new houses...

Same thing here These lightweight construction homes are being built with cheaper materials and are failing faster. Those damn steel plates used in trusses and other places fail faster in a fire than a regular nail, which is why I'd say this house fell apart the way it did. Thank God no one was hurt

Do fires start more often in new houses as opposed to old houses?

I would assume older electrical systems would be more apt to create a fire than on a new house.

Depends on how well the new house was wired (or how well that inspector was paid off) in comparison to what shape an old houses wiring is in and how well it was done years ago

Sadly enough, this is all too true...

My dad works for the city as a home/building inspector and he has mentioned that a good majority of the people in his office "help" out their buddies....even the city manager.

Came home from upstate last fall to find the street going to my house blocked off. The house right above mine was on fire. Scared the shit out of me, thinking mine could have been the one on fire.

The electrical is often where everyone tries to skimp and where the fires usually start. My uncle spent big bucks on his house (and saved $$$ on labor since my dad and I wired it) with all kinds of expensive fancy carpet, furniture and stuff but wanted to buy the cheapest eletrical stuff he could. Had to replace the panel in my house last year and made the mistake of calling the inspector and the electric company to pull the meter. Electric company never showed up so we pulled the meter ourselves. Inspector looked at the new panel for like 30 seconds and said hed be back for the final. Never showed up again. Guy was a flake for sure.

My wife and I woke up last week to a bunch of noise going on outside. We got up and looked and one of our neighbors house was on fire. it didnt burn as bad as the one in the OG post but it was still a total loss.

It is very sad to witness people losing everything so fast. I am a very suprised about the way inspectors seem to be so lax. I never would of thought they would be.

If a fire is started by faulty wiring couldnt it come back to bite them if they OK something that isn't done properly?
