Default New Traxxas Vehicles

So most of you have probably seen the new Traxxas Rally VXL. While checking out the rally forum on the traxxas board, I ended up running across some interesting things from Traxxas that were in photos by XRC mag.

Why won't they make the rally in 1/10th scale!?

The body does look good though.

Why more Traxxas 1/16s?

Ask yourself, how many Traxxas 1/16s have you seen? Think hard... Other than in hobby shops, I have only seen one; and it got squashed by a 4x4 Slash. Most hobby shops won't carry the 1/16s because they are too small, too expensive and don't sell...

Back to Traxxas...
They have a ton of money tied up in the 1/16s for R&D, and they are not even close to making that money back. So, they have two choices: they can dump the line and eat the costs; or, they can put different body, wheels and shocks on the 1/16 chassis and market it to a wider marker. Ergo... the Rally and the 16-Summit...

Now, that 4x4 'Pede, that thing has some teeth, and something the Traxxas crowd has been asking for...

I like the mini stuff myself. I think its a great idea, the mini stuff is much easier to get to move from the shelf. Thats good for the LHS which means its good for the hobby on general.

Of the mini stuff out right now,I think the Traxxas 1/16 platform has the most versatility.I especially like the 1/16 Summit,I want one dammit!

But the Losi stuff has the best price points

The mini stuff is easier to do when you need 2 0r more of everything.
I have 3 2.2 bergs,one for my wife,son and myself.
So it easier to afford 3 Losi 1/24 rally cars,or sc's than 3 Traxxas rally cars or
sc's based on price.

They are prob look at the million little rc18 thing associated has and sees that they sell. I'm sure the brushed versions will be right around the price point of the rc18 trucks.

Has anyone seen the 1/16th rally in person, its actually not that small with the body on and ready to race. I'd says its easily in-line with the size of the HPI mini short course..1/12 might be more accurate.

Our local shop is hoping to get a class started for these. I hope it takes off and they release some old and new rally bodies down the road, would be sick.

I saw all of the new Traxxas stuff yesterday... I have to say the 1/16 rally and mustang arent 1/16, they are allot closer to 1/12.

One of the things that kind of annoys me about traxxas is thier idea of "scale." If you park the 1/10 sc truck next to the 1/10 monster truck the sc is bigger. It seems they just slap a body on a chassis and call it good. I know they do it so they dont have to make a bunch of different parts for each vehicle, but it would be nice if all the vehicles were proportional to eachother. Oh well, I'm just detailed.

I would be all about the Stampede 4x4 VXL, I could care less about any of the 1/16 scale crap...

I'll add my vote on a 1/10 scale rally, I'd love to see that niche grow in the US.
