Default Direct Donation

So Ive got a few 40gl bags of old clothes Id like to donate. I absolutely despise Goodwill, Salv Army, etc simply on principle. Jeez I wish I had a product to sell that cost me nothing.

So aside from randomly stopping homeless people I see downtown, anyone know of a way around the capitalist red tape, in regards to donating???

Contact local shelters or food banks. They always take in clothing or know of some place that does.

As far as major chairites go, Salvation Army is a fairly effiecient machine. They dont pay their CEO much (last I heard, it was $13,000 per year)....

But, yeah, I get your point. Local shelters.

On a bit of a side note, I regularly see a homeless man on the way home...he is standing next to Loop 610....holding a sign that says "On the road, hungry". I see him there about once a month. I've always wanted to stop and remind him that 610 is a loop.....

Since I ate my wheaties this morning....

Yes, red tape. You are giving them your shit, and they are turning around & selling it. One more time for the kids in the back, you are GIVING them your shit and they are turning around & SELLING it.

9 times out of 10 churches end up selling stuff like that at a tag/yard sale. Ask me how I know....

Defeats the purpose of "Giving away" to help!

Check with your local battered women shelters. They always need clothes. Girls will wear your shirts, boxers, coats etc....

Soup kitchens ALWAYS need donations of clothes and food! And churches do drives for cloths all the time! So check churches, bettered shelters, and soup kitchens!

RC Crawler, not just an RC Crawler site. Goodwill and other places take the money the make off your stuff that you give them and give to churches and other programs that help. At least thats what Ive heard. But I guess there are always the cases of abuse.

The problem with goodwill and churches is that they have overhead they have to pay for. Guess where that money comes from.

He's looking for a direct route to the needy.

Ohh ohh.... HOW DO YOU KNOW? PLEASE TELL ME!!! Ohhhh Please!!.... dipshit.

I think you are misusing the term "red tape" but whatever, it's the internet, shame on me for expecting general intelligence. This might help.

Sounds like you just need to take your shit out in the back yard, douse it in lighter fluid and toss a match on it. That way, no one will ever make even one red cent on your old junk, and you will be able to sleep happy knowing this fact.

Really. This board is full of whiners lately.
