Salmon Fishing in the Yemen - 5/10

I got trapped into this one by the wife, thinking it was going to be more documentary style about salmon stocking (I'm a aquatic biologist in my day-to-day life). Got a sappy romantic movie instead that really pushed the science to the side. Only saving grace was that my wife really liked it (nudge nudge, wink wink)

Pulp Fiction 10/10.........I'll admit it wasn't the the first time or even the first of probably ten times, but I watched it again this weekend. Probably my favorite full movie. Favorite would have to be the first half of Full Metal Jacket.

5 Stars!
Barry Lyndon a 1975 period piece by the master, Stanley Kubrick.
No artificial lighting, the candlelit scenes are breathtaking.
No computer will ever be able to create the lighting mood Stanley did.

I've been watching a lot of movies lately, but failing to post up here afterwards...

Sound City. 7.5/10

Dave Grohol buys a one of a kind Neve mixing board from Sound Studios. Place has a ton of history. Good story.

David Lynch's Inland Empire. 7/10

A three hour tale of an actress more or less becoming her character. Boring, but weird like David Lynch movies are, so it was somewhat interesting. Hard to recommend unless you really want to watch a David Lynch movie. Three hours...

Frank and Robot. 6/10

Old retired dude is given a robot helper and together they do some stealing.

Cloud Atlas 8.25/10

"An exploration of how the actions of individual lives impact one another in the past, present and future, as one soul is shaped from a killer into a hero, and an act of kindness ripples across centuries to inspire a revolution."

It was something else. Took me a minute to get it, but it's a good trip. Like Leonardo DiCaprio in Inception, this one might be better the second time through.

I saw Pulp five times in the theater. And I completely agree on Full Metal Jacket. They could have ended it at boot camp.

We rented 7 psychopaths last night. Had some pretty funny parts, lots of blahs and a good amount of high quality nonsensical violence. The violence mixed with Christopher Walken and Woody Harrelson made it worth watching. 7 out of 10

I disagree on Full Metal Jacket. Kubrick continues the gut wrenching reality beyond what you want & gets into the psychological terror of combat. Animal Mother is a great character & the best lines come in the latter half.

Animal Mother: Freedom?

Animal Mother: You'd better flush out your head, new guy. This isn't about freedom; this is a slaughter. If I'm gonna get my balls blown off for a word, my word is "poontang".

Animal Mother: What do I think about the U.S. involvement in the war? I think we should win it.

Searching for Sugarman 7/10.
Rodriguez is a great American song writer that never got the love he deserved. Well, not in this country anyway (USA).

Bernie 7/10.
Free on streaming, and its a pretty funny, true story about a small east Texas town. Good people.
