Pearl Jam - Alive (Live in Philly on 10/21/13)

I'm a massive Pearl Jam fan from the beginning and this is the only band I wanted to see live. I was lucky enough to win tickets to this show. "Alive" is kind of a personal anthem.

They are such a great live show. I used to take roads trips with buddies back in the early nineties to check out shows(such a good period for live music). One particularly memorable show was a triple-bill that had Smashing Pumpkins and Pearl Jam opening for the Red Hot Chili Peppers at the Roy Wilkins Auditorium in St.Paul MN. Amazing to look back at being able to see such a show in a relatively small place. Eddie Vedder was still that young guy who was climbing the walls and hanging upside down from the scaffolding...

I've always heard they were the best live show. I haven't seen many bands, but they are my favorite by far. I had goose bumps for a good part of that show.

I'm jealous I didn't get to see them during their prime and the crazy Eddie period. His climbing is legendary. He's changed since then. I doubt I'd actually like him as a person if I had the chance to meet him. He's a far left winger. If you saw the Ten movie he refused to watch videos of himself (I believe it was climbing) from the past like he's suddenly too good for that. But he's an amazing musician.

It's hard to argue that Pearl Jam is the best rock and roll band of our generation. They have longevity that is a rarity these days. And Eddie is the best front man and lyricist of our generation as well.

The 90's were good times for sure!
