| My job for the next few months
It seems I'm back in the car audio scene. Suits me, I guess. I get to build shit, make it look good, and every day is different. No same old, same old. I've been helping get shit built for/ready to go at the new shop and have been there daily for the past couple of weeks. Some electrical work from today (Wed) So I went to the stereo shop... Grand opening was today. Crazy, crazy day. Cars were literally in/out of the four bays ALL DAY. We opened at 9 and didn't sit down to relax until after 9 tonight. The number of cars that came in and out was crazy. I can't remember a point where a bay was empty long enough to bring the door back down. We even had one bay double parked at one point. Guys from Elettromedia (Audison and Hertz), Dynaudio, and Focal were there. Classes were given by Larry from Elettromedia for the shop guys last night, and lots of good theory was put to use today. Was cool to see THE guys from each manufacturer tag team tuning of a customer's vehicle. Saturday Emilio from Dynaudio is going to give class. A picture from yesterday after we hung the flags. Yes, the pirate flag DID come out of my garage A shot of the bays from the 2nd floor. The wood shop. We drove to Nashville last week, picked up the SawStop, and built the outfeed table. There are four JessEm router lifts with PorterCable routers. So this is what I'll be doing for the next few months - until we move to Hawaii. |

That's not all of it, either. 7,800 square feet. We built/painted stands for the finish room earlier this week but have yet to build a work table for it so, as of now, all of the finish work happens on the out-feed portion of the table saw...table. The kitchen was full of food today. Tons of eggrolls, Korean BBQ ribs, burgers, dogs, cake. There's storage upstairs for stock as well as parts for the bigger builds where it's necessary to store pieces of vehicles. It's actually difficult to get the work area in one shot. There's somewhere around 2,600 square feet in just bays. I've been telling them they need a band saw, drill press, and a good bench vise. Tonight I heard talk of a lathe. |

| Re: My job for the next few months Ha! I guess the first song should be "Wahine Got Back (From the Kitchen with some PuPu Platters)". It sucks. What the hell kind of job offer is it where the owner says "You really fawked me up when you told me you were moving, 'cause I was going to hire you"? I just told him "Well, I still have a few months left." So he and I both know moving is good for the family, but it's bad because he wanted me to work and I wanted the job - and he wanted me there. Stuck these and a pair of JL 12W3s in a 500hp Cadillac STS-V yesterday. Dude came in to have sound deadening applied to the front doors and that turned into much more. Did a rear-view and nav head unit in a Tundra and a nav head unit into a F-250. Dude in the F-250 freakin' backed into our fresh sod and cut 2' deep ruts into it. 4WD to get out. I asked him if he wanted a rear-view camera installed while we did the head unit. Jeremy, wife is still in the military and our choice was to either stay here at Ft. Campbell and she'd have ANOTHER deployment to Afghanistan, or move to Hawaii for three years. This whole Hawaii deal came about at the exact same time I had worked my way into this job. Owner had plans of hiring me once the new shop was open. *shrugs Last edited by JasonInAugusta; 12-17-2011 at 01:15 PM. |

A fifth lift will go into the out-feed table for the table saw. That'll be for the rare large items. Then there are two handhelds and a mini trim router. | |

That totally makes sense, didn't think about having them all setup differently. I was just thinking, damn, how many guys do they need using a router at the same time. |
