order of operations, PEMDAS. So you do multiplication first. 0*1=0 then you add all the ones, and there are 12 of them left, so its 12.

then why have it wrote out like I posted if you change it to do the multiplication first ??....when did they start with that NEW math from the past maybe hundreds of years, plus when I was in school the way the problem is in front of you WAS how it was to be done !!!!....

I know it's been that way for AT LEAST 20 plus years. We were taught that in Junior High.


It's written that way to throw people off and trick them into thinking the answer is 1. It also shows who paid attention in math class and who didn't.

I was doing good until geometry, it slowed me down. And then Algebra 2 came and half the stuff clicked and the other half took a while to sink in.
