Default First truck, yea its got a hemi?

Hey guys i turned 17 back in may and got my first ride. Its a 2011 ram 1500 single cab short box 2wd. Its got a 5.7 liter V8. So is that motor called a 360 or a 345, I've heard both? Also I know that a chevy 5.7 liter is called a 350 so I was just wondering. We bought it used, traded in a 2002 tj 4wd Apex edition garage kept its whole life its one of the nicest jeeps I've seen. But anyways my truck is a metalic grey painted bumpers 20inch wheels dual exhaust. What I found weird about the truck is it has the hemi but no power inside such as power windows, mirriors, or locks? People call it asleep and I love it like that. Also it was used but only 1,800 miles is this odd? Anyways I love the truck but if u guys got anytips or tricks thanks in advance. Also I want to make it my own so whats a good place for aftermarket parts? One more thing do you think my friends at school will let me park with them lol they all drive S10's and ford rangers LMAO

Pics!

I have a 97 ram 1500 2wd 5.9 v8 The 5.9 is the 360, I think you have the 345. Both are great engines, but the rear end on my truck is taking a dump, as are the front wheel bearings. I bought mine from a couple who had moved to GA from Ohio and its pretty rusted

Get you a 35 dollar thrush glass pack, chop your exhaust about half way between your rear end and front door. Get you an exhaust hanger and clamp, bolt the hanger to the bed support and clamp the glass pack to your pipe. My truck sounds mean and rumbles when you let off the gas. Sure as hell scares away the rangers and s10s at my school.

EDIT: Gah, 3:15 in the am.. I think your truck may have dual cats, not sure how this will affect exhaust..

I get a red x when I upload images so here is a link. ImageShack Album - 4 images

It sets kinda high for a 2wd in my opinon also the tags have been changed I hate dealership tags. The exhuast is like a x style and I'm pretty sure it has to cats in it. Also whats your guys opinion on window tint any ideas are welcome. The truck don't have rear leafs its a link arm style and handles well and rides good but the 5.7 sure will make it break loose.

345 for the 5.7L Hemi. The Magnum 5.2 in the older rams was a 318, and as Colby said, the Magnum 5.9 is a 360. Sounds like yours is a base with the Hemi option. You can get upgrades for those things just about anywhere. Tint isn't bad, but it will kill your night time visibility. The trade wasnt worth it for me when I had mine. I would rock it stock, and keep it clean. Get some Rust fighter or similar such spray corrosion inhibitor and crawl under there. Haven't seen any issues with the current generation, but every other Ram built since the 90's would start rusting in the rear wheel wells, then spread to the bedsides. YOU can prevent this. And keep that bada$$ truck looking good. Congratulations, nothing like a first truck

His Dodge will be getting a little under that around town, and a little better on the highway.

Since no one has said it yet, the 5.2, 5.7, 5.9, etc refers to the displacement in liters. Unfortunately nowadays that's how we refer to them on newer cars, but those numbers translate roughly to the displacement in cubic inches. 5.7L, or 5700cc's translates to 347.83 cubic inches, so they round up from the size in cubic inches to the nearest decimal in liters. The 5.7 in the previous generation was 343 cubic inches, which was closer to 5.6, but still called a 5.7, while the 5.9 is almost 360 exactly. A little long winded, but a bit of knowledge for you anyway.

As to why you have no power options, its likely because the truck is a base model with only a few, if any niceties from the option group, hence the reason its short bed, standard cab, 2wd, etc, etc.

Still, sounds like a nice truck, especially for a kid your age. But one question- why no pictures?

So if I am reading this correctly. The "truck" has 4 wheels but only puts power to 2 of them? thats just crazy. JK congrats on your first ride try not to smash it.

Heh.... I busted my ASS for that car. I shoveled manure and put up 110 lb. Bales of hay for 3 solid summers to save enough money to buy that car and my drivers Ed. ... Painted quite a few houses and barns too.

In all honesty... The fact it was a convertible was the only really cool thing about it back then. Ya... A 70 Chevelle is damn cool now.... But back in 84.... It was just a 14 year old car. The 70 Chevelle then didn't really have the following it does now. Plus it didn't help that it was Goldenrod Yellow with a 307 V8.... Ahhhhhh .. But it did have chrome valve covers, dual exhaust and a Pioneer CASSETTE player

Nothing wrong with the Rangers and S10's, they make fine first vehicles. Mine was a 98 Ranger 4x4 with 3" lift and 33" Swampers. Saved every penny I had for a long time to buy it. I do miss it from time to time.

Rangers and S10s are good first cars, I actually looked at a few when I was looking. I ended up getting a 4x4 Grand Cherokee though, which I have not regretted a single day. Great Jeep and great on the trail. I am 17 also
